Karen Trines
Karen Trines (born December 15, 1986, in Ottawa as Karen Sagle) is a Canadian curler from Nepean, Ontario. She currently plays lead for Team Mann on the World Curling Tour. Career Trines twice represented Ontario at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The first time in 2005 with skip Erin Morrissey, and the second in 2007 with skip Hollie Nicol (now Duncan). During the 2011–12 curling season, Trines skipped her own rink on the World Curling Tour, playing in just one event, the 2011 Royal LePage OVCA Women's Fall Classic, where her team went 4–3 and missed the playoffs. After the season, she joined the Lisa Farnell rink at second position. She won her first WCT event at the 2013 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau. Lisa Farnell
Lisa Farnell (born September 23, 1986 in Toronto) is a Canadian-English curler originally from Peterborough, Ontario. She was the skip of the Ontario team at the 2006 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. In 2006, Farnell and her team of Kim Brown, Darrelle Johnson and Amber Gebhardt won the provincial junior championships, earning the right to represent Ontario at the 2006 Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario. At the Canadian Juniors, the team finished with a 5-6 record, tied for sixth place. Farnell would later team up with 2005 provincial champion skip Erin Morrissey to form a competitive team on the women's World Curling Tour. The team made it to their first provincial women's championship in 2010, where they finished with a 5-4 record before losing in a tie-breaker match. 2019 Cameron's Brewing Oakville Fall Classic
The 2019 Cameron's Brewing Oakville Fall Classic was held August 30 to September 2 in Oakville, Ontario. It was the first event of the Ontario Curling Tour for the 2019–20 curling season and the sixth and fifth Men's and Women's events on the World Curling Tour respectively. The total purse for the event was $16,000 on both the Men's and Women's side. Julie Tippin
Julie Tippin (born August 16, 1983 in Pointe-Claire, Quebec as Julie Lynne Reddick) is a Canadian curler from Owen Sound, Ontario. Tippin is a three-time provincial junior champion, and a Canadian mixed champion. Career Tippin attended high school in Beaconsfield, Quebec where she was on her high school curling team. Tippin began her successful curling career by winning the 1999 Ontario provincial junior championships. At the 1999 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Tippin skipped Ontario to an 8-4 record, just out of the playoffs. Tippin was still eligible for Bantams that year, and she won the 1999 Bantam Girls provincial championship as well. Tippin won another provincial junior championship in 2000 to qualify her for the 2000 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2019 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 28 to February 2 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario. The winning team of skip Rachel Homan, third Emma Miskew, second Joanne Courtney and lead Lisa Weagle represented Ontario at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, Nova Scotia, finishing second. Homan defeated Julie Tippin in the final with a final score of 7-5. The event was held in conjunction with the 2019 Ontario Tankard, the men's provincial championship. This was the sixth time the team played at the Scotties and the fourth time representing Ontario. Unlike the 2018 event, the 2019 Scotties returned to having a round robin format. Stacie Curtis
Stacie Curtis (born Devereaux; May 27, 1986) is a curler originally from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a four-time provincial junior champion, three time provincial women's champion and 2007 Canadian Junior champion and World Junior silver medalist. Curling career Curtis represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2003 Canada Games, placing 7th. Curtis won her first provincial junior championship in 2004. Her debut performance as skip of team Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2004 Canadian Junior Curling Championships was somewhat successful, the rink finished with an 8–4 record, just missing the playoffs. The 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Canada's national women's curling championship, was held from January 27–February 4, 2018 at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, British Columbia. The winning team represented Canada at the 2018 Ford World Women's Curling Championship held from March 17–25 at the Memorial Gardens in North Bay, Ontario. The 2018 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 10 to 14 at the Whitby Curling Club in Whitby, Ontario. The winning team represented Ontario at the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Penticton, British Columbia. The defending champion Rachel Homan rink from Ottawa represented Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics, and thus will not have the opportunity to defend their provincial crown. Had they not qualified for the Olympics, they still would not have had a chance to defend their title, as they would have represented Team Canada at the 2018 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Hollie Duncan
Hollie Duncan (born January 6, 1987 in Toronto, Ontario as Hollie Nicol) is a Canadian curler. She currently skips her own team on the World Curling Tour. Career Juniors As a bantam-aged curler, Duncan skipped her Unionville Curling Club rink to a provincial Bantam championship in 2002. In 2004, Duncan represented the Bayview Country Club when her team won the Ontario Winter Games championship. Duncan wrapped up her junior career by winning the 2007 provincial junior championship. Her rink of Laura Hickey, Karen Sagle and Hilary McDermott from the Kitchener-Waterloo Granite Club would then go on to represent Ontario at the 2007 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The 2016 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held January 18 to 24 at the Brampton Curling Club in Brampton, Ontario. The winning Jenn Hanna rink represented Ontario at the 2016 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The final featured two rinks from the Ottawa Curling Club, the #1 ranked team in the world, skipped by Rachel Homan against 2005 Tournament of Hearts runner up Jenn Hanna, making her first provincial appearance since 2012, after taking a few seasons off. Hanna beat the Homan team 10–8 in the final, an upset as the Homan team had only lost one event all season, and led both the World Curling Tour Order of Merit ranking and money list at the time (while Hanna was ranked 69th and 80th respectively).
