Karen McPherson
Karen Margaret McPherson (born 1966) is a Canadian politician who was elected in the 2015 Alberta general election to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta representing the electoral district of Calgary-Mackay-Nose Hill with a plurality of votes under the first-past-the-post system. On October 4, 2017, McPherson announced she was leaving the NDP to sit as an Independent. Weeks later, she announced that she was joining the caucus of the Alberta Party, becoming its second MLA. In March 2019 she announced that she would not seek re-election. Kathleen Teresa Ganley (born 1978) is a Canadian lawyer and politician who was elected in the 2019 Alberta general election to represent the electoral district of Calgary-Mountain View in the 30th Alberta Legislature. She was previously elected in 2015 to represent Calgary-Buffalo in the 29th Legislature. She is a member of the New Democratic Party of Alberta. On May 24, 2015 she was sworn in as the Minister of Justice and Minister of Aboriginal Affairs for the province of Alberta. It was established in July 2017 as a merger between the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta and the Wildrose Party.
