Karen Chapple
Karen Chapple is an American city planning academic and currently holds the Carmel P. Friesen Chair in Urban Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Education Chapple received an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies at Columbia University, a Masters of Science in Community and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute and a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from University of California, Berkeley. Career Chapple's research on the planning, development, and governance of regions is distinguished by its focus on equitable development, community-engaged approach, and increasingly, analysis of big data and use of public dissemination strategies. Since 2006, Chapple has served as the faculty director for the Center for Community Innovation (CCI), a research center at the University of California, Berkeley. John Friedmann
John Friedmann (April 16, 1926 – June 11, 2017) was an Honorary Professor in the School of Community and Regional Planning at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and Professor Emeritus in the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. He was the founding professor of the Program for Urban Planning in the Graduate School of Architecture and Planning at UCLA and served as its head for a total of 14 years between 1969 and 1996. He was born in Vienna, Austria. He obtained a PhD at the University of Chicago in 1955, and then, between 1955 and 1969, worked in Brazil, South Korea, the United States, Venezuela and Chile for academic, government and non-government agencies. Art Research Center
The Art Research Center is an independent not-for-profit association in Kansas City, Missouri. In its early days, members included architects, artists, composers, designers, writers and others. Its work was connected with the exploration of abstract Neo-Constructivism, by both individuals and groups. The association grew out of an earlier collaborative art gallery project, and was started by Thomas Michael Stephens in 1964. The first exhibition was held in 1966. In 1969, Stephens, with Jon Brees Thogmartin and Nancy Ann Stephens, took work by eight artists of the group to the fourth New Tendencies exhibition in Zagreb, at that time in Yugoslavia; the works were displayed as a group, forming a cohesive whole.
