Karbala International Airport
Karbala International Airport ( ar, مَطَار كَرْبَلَاء ٱلدَُوَلِِي, Maṭār Karbalāʾ Ad-Duwalī) is an airport under development in Karbala Governorate, Iraq. It is located between the cities of Najaf and Karbala, about to the southeast of Karbala. It was expected to be Iraq's largest airport upon completion, and to receive an inaugural flight in July 2018, but has been affected by corruption. History and description The foundation stone of Karbala International Airport was laid by Shaikh Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbala'i, a representative of Grand Ayatollah Ali as-Sistani, and Chief Cleric of Imam Husayn Holy Shrine, in January 2017. It is being constructed by the United Kingdom's Copperchase Ltd., and designed by the French ADPI Company. At , the airport's runway is the longest of its kind in Iraq. Husayn Ibn Ali
Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib ( ar, أبو عبد الله الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب; 10 January 626 – 10 October 680) was a grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and a son of Ali ibn Abi Talib and Muhammad's daughter Fatima, as well as a younger brother of Hasan ibn Ali. Imam Husayn Shrine
The Imam Husayn Shrine ( ar, مَقَام ٱلْإِمَام ٱلْحُسَيْن ٱبْن عَلِيّ, Maqām al-ʾImām al-Ḥusayn ʾibn ʿAlī) is the mosque and burial site of Husayn ibn Ali, the third Imam of Shia Islam, in the city of Karbala, Iraq. Air Traffic Services Message Handling Services (AMHS) is a standard for aeronautical ground-ground communications (e.g. for the transmission of NOTAM, Flight Plans or Meteorological Data) based on X.400 profiles.
