Karavaan
Karavaan ( hi, कारवाँ; English meaning: Caravan) is the annual socio-cultural science fest of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. The name stems from the notion of all IISERs moving forward as one. The fest attracts students from colleges all across Pune, as well as national institutes all over India. It is a 3-day fest, held either in October or November in the Fall semester every year. About Karavaan With its humble origins as a small intra-college fest in 2008, Karavaan has grown by leaps and bounds to become a major presence in Pune. Funded partly by IISER Pune and partly by a number of associated sponsors, it now attracts both local, upcoming performers and artists of national repute. Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune (IISER Pune) is an autonomous public university established in 2006. It is one of the seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, and was one of the first IISERs to be established along with IISER Kolkata. It is located in the city of Pune, India. Mimamsa-IISER Pune
Mimamsa is a national level intercollegiate science quiz organized by IISER Pune. It was started in 2009 based on the ideas of Dr. Sutirth Dey, a Faculty Founding Member from biology department. It aims at creating a unique set of questions that focus on concepts and their interdependence. Mimamsa strives to convey the implicit beauty of science. Sunil Mukhi
Sunil Mukhi is an Indian theoretical physicist working in the areas of string theory, quantum field theory and particle physics. Sanjeev Anant Galande (born 1967) is an Indian cell biologist, epigeneticist, academic, former Chair of Biology and the Dean of Research and Development at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune. Bindumadhav Khire
Bindumadhav Khire is an LGBTQ+ rights activist from Pune, Maharashtra, India. He runs Samapathik Trust, an NGO which works on LGBTQ+ issues in Pune district. He founded Samapathik Trust in 2002 to cater the men having sex with men (MSM) community in Pune city. He has also written on the issues on sexuality in fictional and non-fictional forms including edited anthologies, plays, short-stories, and informative booklets. Sandeep Pandey (born 22 July 1965) is an Indian social activist and the present General Secretary of the Socialist Party (India).
