Karamendy ( kk, Қарамеңді; russian: Караменды), until 1999 known as ''Dokuchayevka'', is a village in Naurzum District, Kostanay Region, Kazakhstan. Naurzum Nature Reserve
Naurzum State Nature Reserve ( kk, Наурызым мемлекеттік табиғи қорығы, ) is a nature reserve in Kostanay Region, Kazakhstan. It is part of the UNESCO heritage site Saryarka — Steppe and Lakes of Northern Kazakhstan. It protects about of steppes, semi desert and forests. Kostanay Region ( kk, Қостанай облысы, translit=Qostanai oblysy; russian: Костанайская область, translit=Kostanayskaya oblast) is a region of Kazakhstan. Its administrative center is the city of Kostanay. The population of the region is 900,300. The population living in Kostanay is 207,000 which is equivalent to 23% of the region. Zharman
Zharman ( kk, Жарман) is a salt lake in Naurzum District, Kostanay Region, Kazakhstan. Zharman is part of the main lake group of the Naurzum Nature Reserve, a protected area established in 2009. The village of Karamendy, former Dokuchayevka, is located to the west, and Shili village to the east of the lake. Now abandoned Naurzum village is located near the southern lakeshore. Geography Zharman is a shallow saline steppe lake. It lies at the bottom of a vast depression of the Turgay Basin, between lakes Sarymoin and Zharkol to the north, and Aksuat to the south. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values.
