Kaoru Mori
is a Japanese manga artist from Tokyo and the creator of the manga series ''Shirley'', '' Emma'', and ''A Bride's Story''. Many of her works are centered on female characters in the 19th century, such as a maid in Victorian Britain and a bride in Turkic Central Asia. She also wrote ''dōjinshi'' (self-published manga) under the pen name as a member of the ''dōjin'' circle Lady Maid. Mori's works are known for their high level of detail in terms of clothing design, historical nuances, and background work. Her manga series are often published outside Japan in larger, hardbound editions to complement the heavy detail seen on every page. Similar to authors such as Hiromu Arakawa, Mori often depicts herself in unflattering self-portraits with a simple outline for a body and a head full of wild hair, as she is very reluctant to show her face during public events or interviews. Harta (magazine)
, formerly known as ''Fellows!'', is a Japanese seinen manga magazine published by Enterbrain. Created in 2008, the magazine was originally called ''Fellows!'' and was published with a frequency of publication of two months. In December 2012, Enterbrain announced a revamp on the magazine beginning with its February issue in 2013 with the publication changing its name of ''Fellows!'' to ''Harta'' and also changing its frequency from bimonthly to ten issues per year from February to August and then October to December. The name is inspired by Indonesian word " Harta", which means "treasure." Satoshi Fukushima (born 1962) is a Japanese researcher and advocate for people with disabilities. Blind since age nine and deaf from the age of eighteen, Fukushima was the first deafblind student to earn a degree from a Japanese university when he graduated from Tokyo Metropolitan University in 1987. Fukushima leads the Barrier-Free Laboratory, part of the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo; the research done by members of the lab's staff focuses on accessibility. Animecon (Finland)
Animecon is anime convention in Finland, held annually over a weekend in varying Finnish cities. Animecon was organized as a joint project between anime clubs throughout Finland, facilitated by the communications hub Suomen Animeunioni ''(The Finnish Anime Union)''. The convention was first established in 1999 as an outgrowth of the science fiction anime fandom of the sci-fi convention Finncon, expanded into a separate event about anime in general. Animecon and Finncon have been held in conjunction, sharing premises but no events; they even often held separate opening ceremonies. In 2012 Animecon was held at the city of Kuopio for a first time and the convention has remained there since then.
