Patuakhali () is a district in South-central Bangladesh in the Barisal Division. This district is the main entrance for the beach of Kuakata. Geography It is adjacent to the Bay of Bengal. The area of the district is 3220.15 km2. Patuakhali city is surrounded on three sides by rivers. The two major rivers are Laukathi and Lohalia, which are directly connected with the Bay of Bengal. Bauphal Upazila ( bn, বাউফল ) is an upazila of Patuakhali District in the Division of Barisal Division, Barisal, Bangladesh. Geography The area of Bauphal is 486.91 km2 and it is located in between 22°19´ and 22°36´ north latitudes and in between 90°25´ and 90°40´ east longitudes. It is bordered by Bakerganj Upazila, Bakerganj and Bhola Sadar Upazila on the north, Dashmina Upazila, Dashmina and Galachipa Upazila on the south, Bhola Sadar, Burhanuddin Upazila, Burhanuddin and Lalmohan Upazila on the east and Patuakhali Sadar Upazila, Patuakhali Sadar and Bakerganj Upazila on the west. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. The Jatiya Sangsad ( bn, জাতীয় সংসদ, lit=National Parliament, translit=Jatiyô Sôngsôd), often referred to simply as the ''Sangsad'' or JS and also known as the House of the Nation, is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) is the centralized official bureau in Bangladesh for collecting statistics on demographics, the economy, and other facts about the country and disseminating the information. History Although independent statistical programs had existed in the country before, they were often incomplete or produced inaccurate results, which led the Government of Bangladesh establishing an official bureau in August 1974, by merging four of the previous larger statistical agencies, the Bureau of Statistics, the Bureau of Agriculture Statistics, the Agriculture Census Commission and the Population Census Commission. In July 1975, the Statistics and Informatics Division was created under the Planning Ministry (Bangladesh) and tasked to oversee the BBS.
