Kana Muramoto
is a Japanese ice dancer. With her skating partner, Daisuke Takahashi, she is the 2022 Four Continents silver medalist, the 2022-23 Japanese national champion and the 2022 Denis Ten Memorial Challenge champion. With her former skating partner, Chris Reed, she is the 2018 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2017 Asian Winter Games silver medalist, and a three-time Japanese national champion (2016–2018). They competed in the final segment at five ISU Championships and the 2018 Winter Olympics. Personal life Kana Muramoto was born on March 3, 1993, in Akashi, Hyōgo, Japan. She is the younger sister of former figure skater Satsuki Muramoto. In 2011, she graduated from Canadian Academy, an international school in Kobe, Japan. ISU Figure Skating Championships
The International Skating Union organizes six annual Championships for figure skating. It is at the discretion of each member country which skaters, pairs or synchronized skating teams are sent to which championship. No skater in men's single skating, women's single skating, pair skating and ice dancing can compete at all four competitions in one season, but some skaters have competed at all four over the course of their careers. Denis Ten Memorial Challenge
The Denis Ten Memorial Challenge is an annual senior and junior-level figure skating competition series in Almaty or Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, organized by the Denis Ten Foundation. Named in honor of 2014 Olympic bronze medalist Denis Ten, the competition was first held in 2019. The competition is scheduled to be part of the ISU Challenger Series. Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. The ISU World Team Trophy in Figure Skating is a figure skating team competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. The World Team Trophy was held for the first time in Tokyo, Japan from April 16 to 19, 2009. Traditionally, the competitive skating season had concluded with the World Championships. The 2018 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held in Taipei City, Taiwan on January 22–28, 2018. Medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 18–23, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Held annually since 1999 (except 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Although the event was designed for non-European skaters, the International Skating Union asked the Estonian Skating Union, the host of the 2022 European Championships, to host the Four Continents Championships in the same venue after no non-European ISU members applied to host following the Chinese Skating Association's withdrawal.
