Kampen Janitsjarorkester
The Kampen Janitsjarorkester is a Norwegian marching wind band from the neighbourhood of Kampen in Oslo. The wind orchestra was founded 10 September 1929 by a group of Friends. Kampen Wind Orchestra consisted of only men. The orchestra plays most often locally in Oslo, but also in the rest of the country and occasionally abroad. They have played at military tattoo in Garmich Partenkirchen, during New York marathon and participated in Wenche Myhre show in Germany. The orchestra has led to a number of fields for band. The orchestra has gone their separate ways when it comes to musical styles, content and execution has been at the center. It introduced swing music in the street in the 1950s, wher12th Street Ragwas the first "song". After this, the orchestra has played nearly 100 "tracks" by among others Rolf Letting, Frode Thingnæs, Helge Førde, Lars Erik Gudim and Even Kruse Skatrud. Kampen is a neighborhood in Oslo, Norway. It is located Gamle Oslo borough, between Tøyen, Hasle, Vålerenga and Galgeberg. Frode Thingnæs
Frode Thingnæs (20 March 1940 – 15 November 2012) was a Norwegian jazz composer, arranger, conductor and trombone player who formed the Frode Thingnæs Quintet in 1960. Career Thingnæs was introduced to music at eight years old, when he started to play in a Sinsen school band. His first instrument was the trumpet, but in 1953 he took up the instrument he would come to be known for: the trombone. Due to his success at a young age, he was able to continue his musical education at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where he met other rising musicians. From 1959 onward, Thingnæs met and performed with the bands of Bjørn Jacobsen, Gunnar Brostigen, Mikkel Flagstad and Kjell Karlsen. Starting in 1961, he led his own quartet, which over time included Egil Kapstad, Terje Rypdal, Laila Dalseth, Espen Rud, Bjørn Alterhaug and Per Husby. ''Sing As We Go'' is a 1934 British musical film starring Gracie Fields, John Loder and Stanley Holloway. The script was written by Gordon Wellesley and J. B. Priestley. Oslo City Art Award
The Oslo City Art Award (''Oslo bys kunstnerpris'') is given annually for contributions to the arts by the city of Oslo, Norway. The Oslo City Art Award has been awarded every year since 1978 with the exception of 1991 when the prize was not awarded due to a lack of funding. Since inception, the prize has been distributed to 4-5 recipients annually. The prize is "awarded to individuals who in the past or in recent years has made an outstanding achievement in Oslo's art world". The prize consists of a diploma and a monetary amount.
