Kamhi Point
Kamhi Point ( bg, нос Камхи, ‘Nos Kamhi’ \'nos kam-'hi\) is the sharp rocky point on the northwest coast of Alexander Island in Antarctica projecting 450 m westwards into Lazarev Bay south of the terminus of Oselna Glacier. The feature is named after Rafael Moshe Kamhi (1870-1970), a leader of the Bulgarian liberation movement in Macedonia. The Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica (CGA) of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is the authoritative international gazetteer containing all Antarctic toponyms published in national gazetteers, plus basic information about those names and the relevant geographical features. Antarctic Place-names Commission
The Antarctic Place-names Commission was established by the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute in 1994, and since 2001 has been a body affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria. The Commission approves Bulgarian place names in Antarctica, which are formally given by the President of the Republic according to the Bulgarian Constitution (Art. 98) and the established international practice. Bulgarian names in Antarctica Geographical names in Antarctica reflect the history and practice of Antarctic exploration. The nations involved in Antarctic research give new names to nameless geographical features for the purposes of orientation, logistics, and international scientific cooperation. Umber Island
Umber Island () is a rocky island, 2.4 km (1.5 miles) long, lying southwest of Kamhi Point and 10 km (6 miles) northwest of Dint Island lying within Lazarev Bay, off the west side of Alexander Island, Antarctica. The island was mapped from air photos taken by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE) in 1947–48, by Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1960, it was so named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee because on the RARE photos the island appears in deep shadow cast by the Havre Mountains to the north. Goleminov Point ( bg, Големинов нос, ‘Goleminov Nos’ \go-le-'mi-nov 'nos\) is the rocky point on the northwest coast of Alexander Island in Antarctica projecting 400 m westwards into Lazarev Bay southeast of the terminus of Manolov Glacier. Buneva Point
Buneva Point ( bg, нос Бунева, ‘Nos Buneva’ \'nos 'bu-ne-va\) is the sharp rocky point on the northwest coast of Alexander Island in Antarctica projecting 1 km west-southwestwards into Lazarev Bay just south of the terminus of Lennon Glacier. It is formed by the north extremity of the homonymous rocky coastal ridge extending 3.7 km in southeast direction. The feature is named after Mara Buneva (1902-1928), heroine of the Bulgarian liberation movement in Macedonia. Cape Vostok
Cape Vostok () is a rocky headland which forms the west extremity of the Havre Mountains and the northwest extremity of Alexander Island in Antarctica. It was discovered by the First Russian Antarctic Expedition in 1821, led by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev. It was mapped in detail from aerial photos taken by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition in 1947–48, and later by Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey in 1960. Nearby Balgari Nunatak was visited in 1988 by the First Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition and chosen as the site of a future Bulgarian base in Antarctica, which however was eventually set up on Livingston Island instead. The formation was named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee for the sloop ''Vostok'', commanded by Bellingshausen. Oselna Glacier
Oselna Glacier ( bg, ледник Оселна, lednik Oselna, ) is the 4 km long in east-west direction and 1 km wide glacier on the west side of Havre Mountains in northern Alexander Island, Antarctica. The glacier is situated south of Pipkov Glacier and north of Manolov Glacier. It drains the southwest slopes of Simon Peak, flows southwestwards and enters Lazarev Bay north of Kamhi Point.
