Kambozia Partovi
Kambuzia Partovi (also spelt Kambozia Partovi, fa, کامبوزیا پرتوی; 11 November 1955 – 24 November 2020) was an Iranian film director and screenwriter. Biography He was born in Rasht, Iran, on the Caspian Sea. After studying theater arts in school he wrote mainly scripts for TV series. In 1988 he made his feature film debut with ''Golnar''. His 2007 film '' Café Transit,'' which received the special mention at Mar del Plata film festival, was selected by Iran as its candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He wrote screenplays for other directors, most notably Jafar Panahi's '' The Circle''. In 2013 he acted in and co-directed ''Closed Curtain'' with Panahi. Partovi trained and supported many Iranian artists and film makers, most notably Bahman Ghobadi. He died on 24 November 2020, of complications from COVID-19. ''Closed Curtain'' ( fa, پرده, italics=yes, ''Pardeh'') is a 2013 Iranian docufiction film by Jafar Panahi and Kambuzia Partovi. It premiered at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival on February 12, 2013 where Panahi won the Silver Bear for Best Script. It was shot secretly at Panahi's own beachfront villa on the Caspian Sea. Panahi stated that he began shooting the film in a state of melancholy but managed to recover by the film's completion. ''Closed Curtain'' is Panahi's second film since his 20-year ban on filmmaking after 2011's ''This Is Not a Film''. The film was selected as the closing film of the 2013 Hong Kong International Film Festival. Majid Majidi ( fa, مجید مجیدی, ; born 17 April 1959) is an Iranian film director, producer, and screenwriter, who started his film career as an actor. In his films, Majidi has touched on many themes and genres and has won numerous international awards. Biography Born in an Iranian middle-class family, he grew up in Tehran and at the age of 14 he started acting in amateur theater groups. He then studied at the Institute of Dramatic Arts in Tehran. After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, his interest in cinema brought him to act in various films, most notably Mohsen Makhmalbaf's ''Boycott'' in 1985. In 1997, Majidi directed ''Children of Heaven'', which was nominated to receive the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Bahman Ghobadi
Bahman Ghobadi ( fa, بهمن قبادی; ; born 1 February 1969 in Baneh, Kurdistan province, Iran) is an Iranian Kurdish film director, producer and writer. He belongs to the " new wave" of Iranian cinema. Biography He was born in Baneh, a Kurdish city in Iran. His family moved to Sanandaj in 1981. Ghobadi received a Bachelor of Arts in film directing from Iran Broadcasting College. After a brief career in industrial photography, Ghobadi began making short 8 mm films. His documentary ''Life in Fog'' won numerous awards. Bahman Ghobadi was assistant director on Abbas Kiarostami's ''The Wind Will Carry Us''.
