Kamara, Arcadia
Kamara ( el, Καμάρα) is a mountain village and a community in the municipal unit of Falaisia, in the southwest of Arcadia, Greece. It is situated on a mountain slope, 5 km east of Tourkolekas, 6 km west of Longanikos, 7 km northwest of Dyrrachio and 18 km south of Megalopoli. In 2011 Kamara had a population of 163 for the village and 210 for the community, which includes the village Kampochori. Arcadia ( el, Αρκαδία, ''Arkadía'' ) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the administrative region of Peloponnese. It is in the central and eastern part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It takes its name from the mythological figure Arcas. In Greek mythology, it was the home of the god Pan. In European Renaissance arts, Arcadia was celebrated as an unspoiled, harmonious wilderness. Megalopoli ( el, Μεγαλόπολη) is a town in the southwestern part of the regional unit of Arcadia, southern Greece. It is located in the same site as ancient Megalopolis ( grc, Μεγαλόπολις, literally ''large/great city''). When it was founded in 371 BC, it was the first large urbanization in rustic Arcadia. Its theater had a capacity of 20,000 visitors, making it one of the largest ancient Greek theaters. Today Megalopoli has several schools, shops, churches, hotels and other services. The population of Megalopoli in 2011 was 5,779 residents. Falaisia ( el, Φαλαισία, before 1918: Μπούρα - ''Boura'') is a village and a former municipality in southwestern Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Megalopoli, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 274.926 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Leontari, 5 km northwest of the village Falaisia. The municipal unit Falaisia is located in the northern foothills of the Taygetus mountains, south of Megalopoli and north of Kalamata. Tourkolekas
Tourkoleka ( el, Τουρκολέκα) is a settlement in the municipal unit of Falaisia, southwest Arcadia, Greece. It is situated in the mountains near the border with Messenia, at about 800 m elevation. It is 5 km west of Kamara, 6 km northeast of Pefko (Messenia), 8 km southwest of Leontari and 17 km south of Megalopoli. In 2011 Tourkoleka had a population of 190. Every August, Tourkoleka celebrates its Nikitareia festival in honour of Nikitaras, a Greek revolutionary leader. There is a marble statue of Nikitaras in the village. Longanikos
Longanikos ( el, Λογκανίκος, also transliterated as ''Logkanikos'') is a traditional Greek village, located in Laconia, in the ancient and historical Peloponnese area of southern Greece. It is also referred to sometimes in English as "Logganiko(s)" or "Longanico(s)". It is about 30 kilometers north of Sparta, the capital city of Lakonia, and is also very close to the cities of Kalamata, Tripolis and Megalopolis. It rests on the eastern slope of Mount Taigetos. The current population of Longanikos is 449 inhabitants according to the 2011 census. This figure includes the population of the surrounding smaller villages Vergadeika, Kiparrissi, Giakoumaiika, and Kotitsa. Because of the small size of this village, residents of this town often identify themselves as Spartans to other Greeks or foreigners. Dyrrachio ( el, Δυρράχιο) is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Falaisia, southwestern Arcadia, Greece. Dyrrachio had a population of 299 in 2001. It is considered a traditional settlement and is situated at an altitude of in the Taygetos mountains of the Peloponnese.
