12 Gauge (Kalmah Album)
''12 Gauge'' is the sixth studio album by the Finnish melodic death metal band Kalmah, released on 3 March 2010. The album was recorded with more thrash metal elements than their previous releases, while the melodies that the band is known for and environmental themes regarding the swamps of Finland were retained. ''12 Gauge'' was recorded in three sessions over a three-month period at Tico-Tico Studios in Finland. Each of the band members kept in touch with their fans by keeping track of their recording sessions online at the official website's studio diary. In addition, guitarist Antti Kokko videotaped the recording and photo shoot sessions. Seven videos were posted online during the months leading up to the album's release. Promotion for the album was otherwise minimal. There were no official singles, but the track "Bullets Are Blind" was released on a 2-CD compilation included with ''Soundi'' magazine's 35th anniversary issue, and a music video to the album's title track was ...

The Black Waltz
''The Black Waltz'' is the fourth full-length studio album by the Finnish melodic death metal band Kalmah and their first with keyboard player Marco Sneck. This album has them gravitating more towards thrash metal, which has often been cited as the Kokko brothers' primary musical influence. The vocals have changed to lower death vocals, compared to their higher pitched growls in previous albums. The instrumental "Svieri Doroga" is a combination of the name of their first demo ''Svieri Obraza'' and a track on that demo entitled "Vezi Doroga". The name of the title track and album comes from a song originally recorded ten years earlier when the band was still named "Ancestor". The video for "The Groan of Wind" shows the band members playing inside a cave, with alternating shots of a young boy and girl running from their possessed family members. They are later rescued by a disfigured old man, the Swamplord (Odin), whose picture is on the cover of the album. The album ranked in th ...

Swamplord
''Swamplord'' is the first studio album by the Finnish melodic death metal band Kalmah. Critical reception Reception of ''Swamplord'' was fairly positive. Andy Hinds of ''AllMusic'' praised the album and in particular, the keyboards on the album, stating they "heighten the drama, while adding texture to the quintet's crushing twin-guitar foundation." He also compared the vocals to that of ''At the Gates'' and ''Emperor''. Mark Gromen for ''Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles'' called the tracks on the album "Rapidly played hymns of blasphemy, with a high level of musicianship." Kevin Stewart-Panko of ''Exclaim!'' stated that "The classical influenced runs and keyboard swells are a nice touch as are the band's experiments with dissonance vs. consonance in 'Heritance of Berija.'" He also said that while the band isn't entirely original, "they do have their moments and provide a decent enough listen." Eternal Tears Of Sorrow
Eternal Tears of Sorrow (commonly abbreviated to EToS) is a Finnish symphonic/melodic death metal band formed in Pudasjärvi. Biography The band was formed in 1994 by Jarmo Puolakanaho, Altti Veteläinen and Olli-Pekka Törrö, after various projects that featured people who became members of Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Andromeda, a first death/doom/thrash metal project, had been put on hold in late 1992 because the rehearsal place had burned down. They could not find a new rehearsal place in their hometown, so the three members started a new side-project (M.D.C.) and recorded a demo tape, ''Beyond The Fantasy'' in autumn 1993. In spring 1994, they recorded a new demo, ''The Seven Goddesses of Frost''. Then the band decided to change their name to something they felt more appropriate opting for Eternal Tears of Sorrow. Between 1994 and 1996 the band had a couple of songs on some compilation CDs in Europe and Canada, and recorded their debut, ''Sinner's Serenade''. It took mo ...
