Kalimba De Luna
"Kalimba de Luna" is a 1984 single by Italian musician and drummer Tony Esposito. It was written by Esposito with his long-time collaborator Remo Licastro, pianist Giuseppe "Joe" Amoruso, keyboardist Mauro Malavasi and vocalist Gianluigi Di Franco. It was taken from Esposito's album ''Il grande esploratore'' (The great explorer). "Kalimba de Luna" was a European success and reached no. 3 in the Austrian chart, no. 6 in the Swiss charts and no. 14 in the Italian charts. Charts Boney M. version "Kalimba de Luna" was instantly covered by German group Boney M. for the German market, giving the group their first Top 20 hit in three years, peaking at no. 16. It was added to their current album Ten Thousand Lightyears, seeing it rise to No. 23 in the German charts in October 1984. Tony Esposito (musician)
Antonio Esposito (born 15 July 1950) is an Italian singer, songwriter and musician. Career Esposito was born in Naples. He started playing percussions in his teenage years. In the early 1970s, he played sessions and recorded with musicians such as Alan Sorrenti, Don Cherry, Don Moye, Gato Barbieri, Eumir Deodato, Brian Auger, Gilberto Gil and Pino Daniele. In 1975 he recorded his first solo album, ''Rosso napoletano'', in collaboration with Paul Buckmaster. Esposito is mostly well known for his 1984 hit single " Kalimba de Luna" from his album ''Il grande esploratore''. After winning the Un disco per l'estate music festival, it charted in Italy and Switzerland, and a cover by Boney M reached No. 17 in Germany. ZYX Music GmbH & Co. KG is a German record label that was founded in 1971 by Bernhard Mikulski. It is one of the most successful German record labels of the 1980s and 1990s. Orlando Productions is a French record label, owned by Bruno Gigliotti, brother of Egyptian-Italian then French singer Dalida, for whom he used to be the manager. In the late 1960s, he founded the Orlando label as a vehicle to release and to control Dalida's musical output. Macho (band)
Macho was an Italian-American disco/ R&B studio group. The Guadeloupe born French-Italian businessman Jacques Fred Petrus and Italian musician Mauro Malavasi, formed a joint production company, called Goody Music Production (GMP), in the mid-1970s. Their first project, in 1978, was called Macho, featuring Italian Marzio Vincenti as lead singer. Their only album was composed of three extended tracks. The band's sole chart success in the United States was an almost 18-minute-long disco cover version of the Spencer Davis Group's 1967 hit " I'm a Man", which was written by Steve Winwood. The track reached the Top 10 in the ''Billboard'' magazine's Dance chart in October 1978. Teldec (Telefunken-Decca Schallplatten GmbH) is a German record label in Hamburg, Germany. Today the label is a property of Warner Music Group. History Teldec was a producer of (first) shellac and (later) vinyl records. The Teldec manufacturing facility was located in Nortorf near Kiel in Germany. The company was founded in 1950 as a co-operation between Telefunken and Decca Records. The name Teldec is the result of taking the first three letters of both labels: Telefunken and Decca. Records manufactured by Teldec mostly were released under the Telefunken or Decca label, but normally these records contained no hint that they were made by Teldec. In 1983, Telefunken and Decca pulled out of Teldec and in 1987 Teldec was sold to Time Warner.
