''Kalejdoskopiska Aktiviteter'' (Kaleidoscopic Activities) is the first studio album by Swedish progressive rock band Qoph, released in 1998. The band recorded two versions of the album, one that was sung in English and the other in Swedish, but the English version was never released.'' One of the many jam sessions recorded during the studio work, the 18:31-minute long instrumental title song "Kalejdoskopiska Aktiviteter", with guesting keyboardist Joakim Svalberg (Opeth, Yngwie Malmsteen), was released as a bonus track on the double vinyl version. Qoph (band)
Qoph is a progressive rock band from Stockholm, Sweden, present since 1994. Biography Qoph started in the 1990s as one of the pioneers of the stoner rock scene in Sweden. Originally formed as an experimental rock act Robin Kvist joined the band adding Swedish lyrics on what was later to become Qoph's debut album '' Kalejdoskopiska Aktiviteter'' (Kaleidoscopic Activities), released in 1998. The album cover was painted by Swiss/Swedish surrealist artist Hans Arnold, who also did the cover for the 1976's ABBA album, ''Greatest Hits''. Drummer Federico de Costa, guitarist Filip Norman and bassist Patrik Persson were core members of several line ups before 1998. Many of the earlier songs were instrumental. Joakim Svalberg is a Swedish musician best known as the current keyboard player for the Swedish progressive metal band Opeth, which he joined in late 2011 just after the recording of the album '' Heritage''. Opeth
Opeth is a Swedish progressive metal/rock band from Stockholm, formed in 1990 by lead vocalist David Isberg. The group has been through several personnel changes, including the replacement of every original member; notably Isberg in 1992. Mikael Åkerfeldt has been Opeth's frontman and primary songwriter since Isberg's departure. Opeth has consistently incorporated progressive, folk, blues, classical, and jazz influences into its usually lengthy compositions, as well as strong influences from death metal, especially in their early works. Yngwie Malmsteen
Yngwie Johan Malmsteen ( ; born Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck, 30 June 1963) is a Swedish guitarist. He first became known in the 1980s for his neoclassical playing style in heavy metal, and has released 22 studio albums in a career spanning over 40 years. In 2009, ''Time'' magazine rated Malmsteen as number 9 among the 11 greatest electric guitar players of all time. Hans Arnold
Hans Arnold (22 April 1925 – 25 October 2010) was an artist, born in Switzerland, who lived and worked in Sweden from 1947 until his death in 2010. He illustrated many magazines and books. He is perhaps best known for his illustrations for the ''Bland tomtar och troll'' books, and for the cover he did for the ABBA ''Greatest Hits'' album. In 2019 a feature-length documentary about Hans Arnold was released: Hans Arnold - Art of the Witchmaster'. Background Arnold was born in Sursee. He had a very strict Catholic education which included strong beliefs in heaven and hell. As a small boy, Arnold used to play the violin. ''Greatest Hits'' is a compilation album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was originally released in Scandinavia on 17 November 1975 and in other parts of the world in 1976, notably the UK on 10 April, and on 18 September in the US and Canada.
