Kaishaku (manga Group)
is a group of two manga artists consisting of Hitoshi Ota and Terumasa Shichinohe. The name comes from , an appointed second person whose duty it is to decapitate one who commits ''seppuku'' - ritual suicide by disembowelment. Their anime also tends to have a happier ending after the credits on each last episode. Mangaka
A is a comic artist who writes and/or illustrates manga. As of 2006, about 3,000 professional manga artists were working in Japan. Most manga artists study at an art college or manga school or take on an apprenticeship with another artist before entering the industry as a primary creator. More rarely a manga artist breaks into the industry directly, without previously being an assistant. A ''kaishakunin'' ( ja, 介錯人) is a person appointed to behead an individual who has performed seppuku, Japanese ritual suicide, at the moment of agony. The role played by the ''kaishakunin'' is called ''kaishaku''. Aside from being spared prolonged anguish until death, both the condemned and those on hand to observe are spared the spectacle of the writhing death throes that would ensue. Seppuku
, sometimes referred to as hara-kiri (, , a native Japanese kun reading), is a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment. It was originally reserved for samurai in their code of honour but was also practised by other Japanese people during the Shōwa period (particularly officers near the end of World War II) to restore honour for themselves or for their families. As a samurai practice, ''seppuku'' was used voluntarily by samurai to die with honour rather than fall into the hands of their enemies (and likely be tortured), as a form of capital punishment for samurai who had committed serious offences, or performed because they had brought shame to themselves. Steel Angel Kurumi
is a Japanese manga series created by Kaishaku. An anime series adaptation directed by Naohito Takahashi, animated by Oriental Light and Magic, produced by Pony Canyon with character designs by Yuriko Chiba and Yūji Ikeda and music by Toshihiko Sahashi has been translated and released in North America by ADV Films. In 2008, Crunchyroll announced it had partnered with Pony Canyon to release the ''Steel Angel Kurumi'' series for streaming and download. The entire series was compiled in a Blu-ray box set by Pony Canyon on September 19, 2012. is a Japanese manga series created by Kaishaku. The series was adapted into a 32-episode anime series and one specially released OVA episode by TNK. Kannazuki No Miko
is a Japanese ''Yuri (genre), yuri'' manga series created by Kaishaku (manga group), Kaishaku. The series, centering on the relationship between main characters Himeko and Chikane, also has elements of mecha themes in its plot. The 14-chapter series was serialized by Kadokawa Shoten in the monthly ''Shōnen Ace'' magazine from 2004 to 2005. The series was adapted into a 12-episode anime by TNK (company), TNK and NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, Geneon Entertainment, which aired in Japan from October to December 2004. is a Japanese manga created by Kaishaku which was first serialized in the Japanese shōnen manga magazine ''Monthly Dragon Age'' in May 2006. A 12-episode anime, adapted from the manga, aired in Japan from January 5 to March 23, 2007. Yuricon
Yuricon was an anime convention geared toward fans of yuri anime and manga. The first Yuricon event was held in 2003 in Newark, New Jersey with about 200 attending, although Yuricon has existed as an online entity since 2000. The event was organized by Yuricon, LLC., which continues to run Yuri-focused events of its own, collaborates with other organizations to hold unique events, and hosts contests.
