Kaipokok Bay
Kaipokok Bay is a bay in Labrador , nickname = "The Big Land" , etymology = , subdivision_type = Country , subdivision_name = Canada , subdivision_type1 = Province , subdivision_name1 ..., Canada. The geographic feature extends for 75 km inland from the northern Atlantic Ocean. The bay is sparsely populated, with Postville being the only permanent settlement on the bay. Postville, Newfoundland And Labrador
Postville is an Inuit town in the north of Labrador, Canada. It had a population of 188 as of 2021. It is located about into the interior of Kaipokok Bay, NNE of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Postville Airport is nearby. Postville is inaccessible by road and may be reached only by air or sea. In the 18th century, the Franco-Canadian merchant Louis Fornel landed near the present site of Rigolet and claimed the land for France in 1743. The Franco-Canadians established trading posts in Kaipokok Bay at that time. The English took control of the Labrador coast in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. This brought a flood of European fishermen and whalers to settle on the Labrador coast. Around 1784, Pierre Marcoux and Louis Marchand reopened the old Kaipokok trading post. The J. L. Hudson Company (commonly known simply as Hudson's) was an upscale retail department store chain based in Detroit, Michigan. Hudson's flagship store, on Woodward Avenue in Downtown Detroit (demolished October 24, 1998), was the tallest department store in the world in 1961, and, at one time, claimed to be the second-largest department store, after Macy's, in the United States, by square footage. Growth Founded in 1881 by Joseph Lowthian Hudson, the store thrived during the record growth of Detroit and the auto industry in the first half of the 20th century. In 1909, J.L. Hudson invested in a start-up automobile manufacturer which was named the Hudson Motor Car Company in his honor.
