Kaija Saariaho
Kaija Anneli Saariaho (; ; born 14 October 1952) is a Finnish composer based in Paris, France. During the course of her career, Saariaho has received commissions from the Lincoln Center for the Kronos Quartet and from IRCAM for the Ensemble Intercontemporain, the BBC, the New York Philharmonic, the Salzburg Music Festival, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, and the Finnish National Opera, among others. In a 2019 composers' poll by BBC Music Magazine, Saariaho was ranked the greatest living composer. Saariaho studied composition in Helsinki, Freiburg, and Paris, where she has lived since 1982. Kaija Kokkola (born 10 September 1962), better known by her stage name Kaija Koo, is a Finnish singer. Kokkola began her career when she was 17 years old, as a member of a band Steel City, later known as Kaija Koo Band, until it broke up and Kaija Koo became a solo artist. Her debut solo album ''Kun savukkeet on loppuneet'' was released in 1986. Kaija Helena Aarikka-Ruokonen (3 February 1929 — 14 August 2014) was a Finnish designer and entrepreneur. Early life and education Kaija Aarikka was born in Somero to a farming family; her parents were Väinö Aarikka and Alma Maria Kares. She completed lower secondary school in 1945, and later studied textile arts and design at the ''Taideteollinen Oppilaitos'' school of design (now part of Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture), graduating in 1954. Career In 1954, Aarikka co-founded together with her husband the eponymous design bureau Aarikka, to design and manufacture initially wooden buttons and decorative and household items, later expanding also into personal accessories, dress jewellery and giftware. Kaija Juurikkala (born 20 November 1959) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. She has studied film directing at the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Juurikkala has directed mainly films aimed at young people. ''Rosa Was Here'' (1994) is a half-length fiction film about a world where all adults suddenly disappear. The beetroot has also directed two long films. ''The Ride To Moses'' (2001) is based on the Ten Commandments of the Bible. Kaija Marja Mustonen (born 4 August 1941) is a former speed skater from Finland. Kaija Lustila (born 8 November 1965) is a Finnish singer. She first came to fame as a tango singer; now her repertoire includes evergreens, iskelmä and Finnish pop. Biography Lustila was born in Kurikka. Her career began in 1982, when she had the opportunity to audition with Risto Oja-Lipasti's band. Within a few years she had made such an impression on the dancing public that she formed her own band, Pajero, with herself as solo singer. Kaija Siren
Katri (Kaija) Anna-Maija Helena Siren (née Tuominen; October 23, 1920 in Kotka – January 15, 2001) was a Finnish architect. She graduated as an architect from the Helsinki University of Technology in 1948. Siren designed most of her works together with her spouse to another Finnish architect, Heikki Siren. She and her husband Heikki Siren set up their own architectural office in 1949. The Sirens worked together as architects their entire life. The Otaniemi Chapel is noted for its delicate balance between features of Finnish rural architecture and a modernism, influenced by Alvar Aalto's redbrick period of the 1950s. Their later work is noted for its monumentality. She is buried in the Hietaniemi Cemetery in Helsinki. Kaija Salopuro (born 1938) is a Finnish former footballer, who won five women's football championships with Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi between 1971 and 1975. She later worked for the Football Association of Finland, and won multiple awards for her contributions to Finnish women's football. Personal life Salopuro is from Ylivieska, Finland. In her early life, she participated in baseball and athletics. Career Salopuro moved to Helsinki to work in the offices of Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi sports club (HJK). At the time, the club was considering the creation of a women's football club. In 1971, Salopuro was the first captain of the Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi women's team. None of the players were initially paid for their participation. Between 1971 and 1975, she won five Finnish Football Championships as HJK captain. Kaija Silvennoinen (née Halonen; born May 5, 1954) is a Finnish ski orienteering competitor. At the World Ski Orienteering Championships in 1977 in Velingrad, Bulgaria, she won a gold medal in the relay, with Aila Flöjt and Sinikka Kukkonen, and placed fourth in the individual contest. At the World Ski Orienteering Championships in 1980 she won a gold medal with the Finnish relay team, together with Mirja Puhakka and Sinikka Kukkonen, and a silver medal in the individual contest.
