Kaarlo Wirilander
''Kaarlo'' Verner Wirilander (14 August 1908 in Mikkeli – 16 October 1988 in Mikkeli), was a Finnish historian. Wirilander was 1935–1958 an official at the Finnish war archives. Wirilander's research on social history is considered as of high standard. He was a student of Gunnar Suolahti and published works on the officer corps and the estates in whole. Wirilander belonged to the editorial staff for the great economic and social work ''Suomen kulttuurihistoria'', together with Eino Jutikkala and Heikki Waris. Kaarlo Wirilander's publications is often consulted by genealogists. Mikkeli
Mikkeli (; sv, S:t Michel; la, Michaelia) is a town and municipality in Finland. It is located in what used to be the province of Eastern Finland and is part of the Etelä-Savo region. The municipality has a population of () (around 34,000 in the town itself) and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is The town is located on lake Saimaa. Social History
Social history, often called the new social history, is a field of history that looks at the lived experience of the past. In its "golden age" it was a major growth field in the 1960s and 1970s among scholars, and still is well represented in history departments in Britain, Canada, France, Germany, and the United States. In the two decades from 1975 to 1995, the proportion of professors of history in American universities identifying with social history rose from 31% to 41%, while the proportion of political historians fell from 40% to 30%. Eino Jutikkala
Eino Kaarlo Ilmari Jutikkala (24 October 1907 – 22 December 2006), until 1931 Rinne, was a Finnish historian, and professor of history at the University of Helsinki from 1950 to 1974. He had an exceptionally long and prolific career, and is considered one of the most important Finnish historians of the 20th century. Jutikkala was born in Sääksmäki. He wrote mainly about collective phenomena in history, focussing on social and economic history. His main contributions are in the areas of early modern period economic history and historical demography. His methodological innovations are also thought to have greatly improved the quality of local history research in Finland. He helped make Finland's history known to English-speaking readers through his book ''A History of Finland'', written with Kauko Pirinen.''Nationalencyklopedin'' 1993.
