KTCR
KTCR (980 AM "Kruzn 106.9 KTCR") is a radio station licensed to Selah, Washington. Owned by Stephens Media Group, it broadcasts an oldies format. History The station went on air as KUTI in 1955. In 1983 KUTI changed its city of license from Yakima to Selah in order to increase power and add nighttime service. On May 26, 2010, it was rumored then-KJOX's parent company New Northwest Broadcasters's stations could possibly be sold in the near future. KBBO (1390 AM) is a radio station licensed to Yakima, Washington, United States; the station serves the Yakima area. It carries a sports talk format. The station is currently owned by Stephens Media Group. History With a power of 250 watts, the station signed on the air in 1947 as KYAK at 1400 kHz. To increase power to 1000 watts day and 500 at night, the station reduced its frequency to 1390 kHz. In 1957, adopting a rock n' roll format and under the ownership of Warren Durham and Bill Shela, the station changed its call letters from KYAK to KLOQ. In 1963, KLOQ was sold and the call letters were changed to KBBO A religious format was adopted. Stephens Media Group is an Oklahoma based radio broadcaster that owns 75 radio stations particularly in small to mid-size markets. Its flagship stations are at its headquarters in Tulsa. Stephens refers to itself as "A portfolio of People", referencing the team members who work for the company. History Stephens Media started with stations around Tulsa, Oklahoma, before expanding to small markets outside of there. KXDD (104.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Yakima, Washington, United States, the station serves the Yakima area. The station is currently owned by David Stephens of Tulsa, Oklahoma. KXDD has had the same country format for over 35 years. When they first signed on, they also played country music, as KAAR and KUTI-FM (co-owned with sister station 980 KUTI, now KTCR). But in 1977, the 104.1 frequency flipped to KUEZ, which had an Easy Listening format. Ironically, the KUEZ calls are currently on a 104.1 in Fallon, NV with a Soft Oldies format. Selah, Washington
Selah is a city in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 8,153 at the 2020 census. History Selah was incorporated on March 17, 1919. The Tree Top apple processor co-operative (established in 1960) has its headquarters and two processing plants in Selah. In 2004, the Yakama Tribe bought the old Hi-Country juicing plant, which it operated until 2010. Currently, the facility is owned and operated by Sun-Rype, the U.S. arm of Western Canada's largest juice and fruit snack distributor. It continues to produce store brand apple juice and other beverages. In addition a number of fruit companies have warehouses there, due to the proximity of fruit orchards in the nearby Wenas Valley and access to regional railroad and roadway systems for shipment to markets. KKHK (95.5 FM, "Bob FM") is a commercial radio station in Carmel, California, broadcasting to the Santa Cruz-Monterey-Salinas, California area on 95.5 FM.
