KSUN (1400 AM) is a Spanish-language radio station broadcasting out of Phoenix, Arizona and serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is locally owned by the Marques brothers and operates a regional Mexican music format under the branding "La Mejor". The station simulcasts on translator at K293CO 106.5 FM. The station is also the Spanish-language play-by-play home of Phoenix Suns basketball games and Phoenix Rising FC soccer matches. History 1400 AM in Phoenix signed on August 28, 1954 as KONI, the 9th radio station in Phoenix; originally KBLR, the station's callsign changed by the time it signed on. KONI became KXIV in 1961. Until 1982, KXIV was programmed with a middle of the road (MOR) music format. The station was co-owned by Ira Lavin and actor Dick Van Dyke (an Arizona resident). KSUN (Bisbee, Arizona)
KSUN (1230 AM) was a radio station in Bisbee, Arizona. It went on the air in 1933 as one of the first radio stations in Arizona and ceased operations on January 1, 1982, though activity around the license continued for years after. History KSUN The Copper Electric Company received the construction permit for a new radio station in Bisbee at 1200 kHz on June 30, 1933. That October, after changing its call letters from the original assignment of KIGY, KSUN hit the air. It was the first radio station in Bisbee and Cochise County, and by 1935, one of just eight in the whole state. The station went to unlimited time in 1935, and a power increase to 250 watts followed the next year. In 1941, NARBA moved KSUN and other stations at 1200 to the new dial position of 1230 kHz. Founded in 2014 as Arizona United Soccer Club, the team is a member of the USL Championship. KHOV-FM is a radio station on 105.1 MHz in Wickenburg, Arizona, serving the Phoenix metropolitan area. It is owned by Univision Communications and carries a simulcast of KQMR. History KHOV-FM began in 1983 with the callsign KHBC, broadcasting at 105.5 MHz and named for initial owners Hassayampa Broadcasting Corporation. On January 1, 1987, it became KCIW-FM, the FM counterpart to sister station KCIW at 1250 kHz. The country music format of the station continued in 1989 with a callsign change to KRDS-FM.
