The California State University (Cal State or CSU) is a public university system in California. With 23 campuses and eight off-campus centers enrolling 485,550 students with 55,909 faculty and staff, CSU is the largest four-year public university system in the United States. KUOP
KUOP (91.3 FM) is an NPR-member radio station, licensed to Stockton, California, United States. The station is currently owned by California State University, Sacramento and is part of the news network of CapRadio (formerly Capital Public Radio). From 1947 to 2000, KUOP was the radio station of the University of the Pacific. Capital Public Radio began leasing out KUOP's air time in 2000 and bought the facility outright in 2007. KXPR
KXPR (88.9 FM) is a classical music-formatted radio station in the Sacramento, California, area. The station is closely linked to sister-station KXJZ (90.9 FM), and the two stations are known as Capital Public Radio (now CapRadio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXPR's transmitter is located in Walnut Grove. In 2006 the stations swapped signals to their current configuration. The swap marked a return of sorts to KXPR's roots; in 1979, the station had originally signed in at 88.9 FM before moving to 90.9 in 1984. KXPR carries programming from NPR, and also has locally produced features as well as classical music shows. Although KXPR does have a HD Radio channel, it has yet to sign on a HD2 or HD3 subcarrier. KXJZ (90.9 FM) is a public radio station in Sacramento, California. It airs programming from National Public Radio (NPR) and other public radio producers and distributors, as well as locally produced news and public affairs programs. It also offers a continuous 24-hour commercial-free classical music radio format on its HD2 subcarrier. KXJZ's sister station in Sacramento is KXPR (88.9 FM), which broadcasts classical music and a few non-classical programs at the weekend. The two stations are known as CapRadio (formerly Capital Public Radio). Both stations are owned by Sacramento State and share studio operations on campus, and KXJZ's transmitter is located near Rio Linda. KSJS
KSJS (90.5 MHz) is a college radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day from the campus of San Jose State University in San Jose, California, United States. The brainchild of Professor Clarence Flick, it went on the air on February 11, 1963, with only 85 watts of power. The studio is located in Hugh Gillis Hall, easily accessible to RTVF majors. Originally, its transmitting antenna was installed atop the Walquist Library Building on campus, but broadcasting range was adversely affected due to the nearby Bank of America Building's superior height. Today, however, its transmitter atop Coyote Peak broadcasts 1,500 watts, allowing the station to be heard by the entire Santa Clara Valley and much of the San Francisco Peninsula.
