KSJS
KSJS (90.5 MHz) is a college radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day from the campus of San Jose State University in San Jose, California, United States. The brainchild of Professor Clarence Flick, it went on the air on February 11, 1963, with only 85 watts of power. The studio is located in Hugh Gillis Hall, easily accessible to RTVF majors. Originally, its transmitting antenna was installed atop the Walquist Library Building on campus, but broadcasting range was adversely affected due to the nearby Bank of America Building's superior height. Today, however, its transmitter atop Coyote Peak broadcasts 1,500 watts, allowing the station to be heard by the entire Santa Clara Valley and much of the San Francisco Peninsula. San José State University (San Jose State or SJSU) is a public university in San Jose, California. Established in 1857, SJSU is the oldest public university on the West Coast and the founding campus of the California State University (CSU) system. Denny Teresi
Dennis Dan "Denny" Teresi (born August 14, 1954), now known as Dennis Terry, is an American radio disc jockey and former phone phreak most famous for being the person who introduced John Draper to the field of phreaking. Both Draper and Teresi were operating pirate radio stations in the San Jose, California area. Their initial contact came when Teresi responded by telephone to one of Draper's pirate broadcasts. In the documentary ''The Secret History of Hacking'', Teresi is identified as an expert in social engineering. Teresi's mastery of the phone company's jargon allowed him to speak with phone company employees and trick them into revealing more information. Gordon Greb
Gordon B. Greb (August 7, 1921 - September 12, 2016) was an emeritus professor of San Jose State University, a "distinguished broadcast educator"' historian and an investigative journalist. Early life and education Greb was a fourth generation Californian. He was born on a farm in Irvington (Alameda County), California, and grew up in Oakland and San Leandro. His father worked as a Southern Pacific railroad engineer and his mother was a housewife. During the Great Depression, young Greb sold magazines door to door (''Saturday Evening Post'', ''Liberty''), earned a few dollars selling cartoons and stories to Oakland newspapers (''Tribune'', ''Post Enquirer'') and for a short time appeared on radio as a child actor (''Rusty, Boy Aviator'', KTAB, 1934). KLRK
KLRK (95.3 MHz) is a radio station in Los Gatos, California, United States, serving the San Jose and Santa Clara Valley area. It is owned by the Educational Media Foundation (EMF) and part of its K-Love network. The primary transmitter is on Blackberry Hill Road in Los Gatos. KLRK also has two booster stations on 95.3 MHz: KLRK-FM1 serving Scotts Valley and KLRK-FM2 at New Almaden. What is today KLRK began broadcasting in 1966 as KLGS. From 1990 to 2022, it aired a country music format under the KRTY call sign. Despite good ratings performance, it was sold as part of the dissolution of deceased owner Bob Kieve's estate to EMF. KMGH-TV (channel 7) is a television station in Denver, Colorado, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company alongside Sterling-licensed independent station KCDO-TV, channel 3 (and its Denver-licensed translator KSBS-CD, channel 10). Both stations share studios on East Speer Boulevard in Denver's Speer neighborhood, while KMGH-TV's transmitter is located atop Lookout Mountain, near Golden. Anthony Carl "Tony" Kovaleski (born 1959) is an investigative reporter currently working at Denver ABC Scripps' KMGH-Channel 7. Previously Kovaleski worked at NBC Bay Area, KNTV in the San Francisco Bay Area. From 2001 to 2011, he was the investigative reporter at KMGH-TV in Denver, Colorado. Early life Kovaleski was born in Iron River, Michigan and graduated from San Jose State University. Professional career Kovaleski joined the NBC Bay Area Investigative team in December, 2011. His most recent work includes exposing problems at sporting venues throughout California. His investigations into Santa Clara County's VTA Light Rail system have exposed abnormally high fair evasion rates. KLIV
KLIV (1590 AM broadcasting, AM) is a broadcast radio station in the United States. Licensed to San Jose, California, KLIV serves San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley with a Vietnamese language, Vietnamese format simulcasting KVVN. It is one of the last independently owned stations in the Bay Area. KLIV began broadcasting in 1946 as KSJO before becoming KLIV in 1960. The station had a top-40 format in the 1960s and changed to big band in 1981. From 1991 to 2016, KLIV had a all-news radio, news format before changing to classic country. In 2019, KLIV was shut down after the transmitter site was sold.
