KORWiN (Poland)
The New Hope (, NN), previously known as Confederation for the Renewal of the Republic Liberty and Hope (, KORWiN/Liberty), is a right-wing populist political party in Poland. It is currently led by Sławomir Mentzen. It was founded in 2015 by Korwin-Mikke as a result of his removal from Congress of the New Right, his former party. Among the party's other members are Przemysław Wipler, who held a seat in the Polish Sejm and Robert Iwaszkiewicz, Member of the European Parliament. The party's Polish name was originally a backronym of the founder's name Korwin-Mikke, who took part in the 2015 presidential election. In 2018, the party formed a coalition with National Movement called Confederation. The party have currently three members in the Sejm. Konrad Berkowicz
Konrad Berkowicz (born 27 May 1984 in Kraków) is a Polish politician and computer scientist. He has been a vice-chairman of KORWiN since 2015. He is a deputy in the Sejm since 2019. In 2019, he was elected to the Sejm, starting from the Confederation Freedom and Independence list in the Kraków II (parliamentary constituency), Kraków II constituency. This article lists current political parties in Poland, as well as former parties dating back as far as 1918. Since 1989, Poland has had a multi-party system, with numerous competing political parties. Individual parties normally do not manage to gain power alone, and usually work with other parties to form coalition governments. The transition from a mono-party Communist regime to liberal democracy and pluralism resulted in new political parties mushrooming in the early 1990s. The Confederation Liberty and Independence ( pl, Konfederacja Wolność i Niepodległość), frequently shortened to just Confederation ( pl, Konfederacja), is a far-right political party in Poland. It was initially founded in 2018 as a political coalition for the 2019 European Parliament election, although it was later expanded into a political party. It won 11 seats in the Sejm after the 2019 parliamentary election. Its presidential candidate for the 2020 election was Krzysztof Bosak who placed fourth among eleven candidates. A coalition mainly led by Korwin, National Movement, and the Confederation of the Polish Crown, it is right-orientated and is considered to be a part of the radical right. 2019 European Parliament Election In Poland
On Sunday 26 May 2019, a vote was held to elect the Polish delegation to the European Parliament. Polish voters elected 52 MEPs, compared to 51 in the 2014 election. The increased number of MEPs is a result of the 2018 reapportionment of seats in the European Parliament. Following the United Kingdom's announcement, that it will participate in elections to the European Parliament on May 23, Poland will continue to be represented by 51 MEPs. The 52nd MEP will take up their mandate immediately after the UK leaves the European Union. Following the announcement of the election results, the National Electoral Commission indicated Dominik Tarczyński from Lesser Poland and Świętokrzyskie will take up the 52nd seat. Kukiz'15
Kukiz'15 is a right-wing populist political party in Poland led by Paweł Kukiz. It was formed in 2015 as a loose movement that registered itself as an association in 2016 and later as a political party in 2020. Initially, it was connected with far-right parties such as National Movement although since 2016 they have moderated its political outlook. During the 2018 local elections, it coordinated with the socially conservative Right Wing of the Republic and in 2019 they joined the Polish Coalition. Due to its eurosceptic stances, its membership was terminated from the coalition and in May 2021 they announced their support for the ruling United Right coalition. Jakub Kulesza (born 12 November 1990) is a Polish politician and a Member of Parliament. Kulesza studied electronics, computer science and telecommunications at the Warsaw University of Technology. He was employed in enterprise computing. Kulesza organized the youth wing of the Real Politics Union, which operated until 2009. Since 2010 he is associated with KoLiber, serving as president from 2012 to 2013. He was also president of the Progressive Foundation. In the parliamentary elections in 2015, Kulesza ran for the Sejm in the Lublin district as leader of the Kukiz'15 list. He was elected with 15,058 votes. Kulesza was the spokesman for the Kukiz'15 parliamentary caucus. Parliamentary elections to both the Sejm and Senate were held in Poland on 25 October 2015 for the eighth term of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, which ran from 12 November 2015 until 2019. National Movement ( pl, Ruch Narodowy, RN) is an ultranationalist political party in Poland. It is led by Robert Winnicki. It was founded in 2012 as an organization, and in 2014 it was registered as a political party. It is a part of the Confederation Liberty and Independence, and it currently has 5 members in the Sejm. It is a far-right political party and it is orientated towards socially conservative and militarist stances. 2015 Polish Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Poland on 10 and 24 May 2015. In the first round of voting Law and Justice (PiS) candidate, lawyer and Member of the European Parliament, Andrzej Duda received the greatest number of votes with a share of 34.76%, followed by incumbent president Bronisław Komorowski (with 33.77%), who ran as an independent with the endorsement of the Civic Platform (PO), which he had renounced his membership in after winning the 2010 elections. Independent candidate Paweł Kukiz came third with 20.80% of the votes. As no candidate had received more than 50% of the votes cast, a second round was held on 24 May between the two highest-placed candidates, Duda and Komorowski.
