KMSG-LD
KMSG-LD (channel 39) is a low-power television station in Fresno, California, United States, affiliated with MyNetworkTV and Azteca América. It is owned by Cocola Broadcasting alongside Merced-licensed Estrella TV affiliate KGMC (channel 43) and seven other low-power stations. KMSG-LD's transmitter is located on Bear Mountain, near Meadow Lakes, California. KMSG's Azteca America feed is rebroadcast on KVVG-LD channel 54.1 in Visalia. History KVVG-LD started out as KVVG-LP, an affiliate of Almavision for the Visalia area in early 2005. Formerly on channel 31, it later moved to channel 54. KVVG-LP changed to Tvida Vision in mid-2005. As of 2011, the station converted to a digital signal, as KVVG-LD. The KVVG calls were originally used on a DuMont affiliate on channel 27 in Tulare in the 1950s. Cocola Broadcasting is a broadcasting company based in Fresno, California. Founded in the early 1980s by Valley broadcasting veteran Gary Cocola, Cocola owns two full-power digital television stations KGMC in Fresno and KKJB in Boise, along with several low-power television stations in Central California and Boise. Cocola was one of the first broadcasters in the US to take advantage of the opportunities of low-powered television, after the FCC approved such stations in the early 1980s. KZKC-LD (channel 28) is a low-power television station in Bakersfield, California, United States. It is a translator of ABC affiliate KERO-TV (channel 23) which is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company. KZKC-LD's transmitter is located atop Breckenridge Mountain; its parent station maintains studios on 21st Street in Downtown Bakersfield. History The station was originally owned by Cocola Broadcasting, where it served as a repeater for Fresno's KMSG-LP (channel 43), an Azteca América affiliate; McGraw-Hill bought it in 2006 and made it a stand-alone station. McGraw-Hill announced on October 3, 2011, that it would sell KZKC-LP, along with its other television stations, to the E. W. Scripps Company as part of its exit from broadcasting. KGMC (channel 43) is a television station licensed to Merced, California, United States, serving the Fresno area as an affiliate of the Spanish-language network Estrella TV. It is the flagship television property of owner Cocola Broadcasting, and is sister to eight low-power stations. KGMC's studios are located on West Herndon Avenue in the Pinedale area of Fresno, and its transmitter is located on Bald Mountain, south of Meadow Lakes in Fresno County.
