KLLL-FM
KLLL-FM (96.3 MHz) is a country music station licensed and broadcast in Lubbock, Texas, owned by Alpha Media Group through licensee Alpha Media Licensee LLC. Its studios are located in south Lubbock on Avenue Q west of Interstate 27, and its transmitter is located separately two miles away south of the studios. Waylon Jennings is a notable former personality of KLLL, working there before joining Buddy Holly on tour. When Buddy died, Jennings returned to KLLL, which had been taken over in 1958 by Sky Corbin and his brother, Slim. The '' Lubbock Avalanche-Journal'' described the Corbins as "a force locally and were influential throughout the industry". Jerry "Bo" Coleman
Gerald Marlin "Jerry Bo" Coleman (born July 1, 1936) is an American former radio personality. Born in Wilson, Texas, the son of Grover and Christeen Coleman. Coleman worked on cotton as a teenager. He worked at the RC Bottling Company. He attended at the Texas Tech University. After listening to the radio, Coleman had gotten his love passion when he listed to the country music station KLLL-FM. Coleman was hired to work as a radio personality for the KDUB-FM. He then worked for the KSEL-FM. As a radio personality, Coleman had his own radio program that became popular in Lubbock, Texas, in which his program had captivated audiences that included young males and females. KMMX
KMMX (100.3 FM broadcasting, FM), known as "Mix 100.3", is a Contemporary hit radio, Top 40 (CHR) radio station licensed to Tahoka, Texas, and serving the greater Lubbock, Texas, area. its studios are located in south Lubbock on Avenue Q west of Interstate 27, I-27, and its transmitter is located south of the city. History KMMX-FM originally signed on as "Mix 104.7" as a Soft AC. However, the station suffered from weak signal penetration into the Lubbock market. In the 1990s, a frequency swap with another market allowed KMMX to occupy the 100.3 frequency. By May 1997, the station became more of a CHR leaning Hot AC format with live air personalities, using the slogan "A 50/50 Mix Of The 80s & 90s." This was a response to the loss of KRLB 99.5 "The Music Station," which, as a result of the sale of Mainstream CHR Z102 to KRLB's parent company, changed formats from Hot Adult Contemporary to Classic Rock. KONE (101.1 MHz), known as "Rock 101", is a classic rock formatted FM radio station serving the Lubbock, Texas, and South Plains Area. Owned by Alpha Media Group, through licensee Alpha Media Licensee LLC, its studios are located in south Lubbock on Avenue Q west of I-27, and its transmitter is located south of the city. History This station previously held the call letters KTEZ when it aired an easy listening format. It was founded in December 1974 by Troy Raymond "Ray" Moran (who'd later found Ramar Communications.) It began with studios and transmitter in the former transmitter shack of KKBC-TV/KMXN-TV (predecessor of KJTV, FOX34.) Moran had worked in Lubbock in the 1950 and 1960s. ''Lubbock Avalanche-Journal'' is a newspaper based in Lubbock, Texas, United States. It is owned by Gannett. History ''The Lubbock Avalanche'' was founded in 1900 by John James Dillard and Thad Tubbs. According to Dillard, the name "Avalanche" was chosen due to his desire that the newspaper surprise the citizens of Lubbock. The newspaper was sold to James Lorenzo Dow in 1908. In 1922, the ''Avalanche'' became a daily newspaper (except for Mondays) and a year later added a morning edition. In 1926, the owners of the rival ''Lubbock Daily Journal'', editor Charles A. Guy and partner Dorrance Roderick, bought ''The Avalanche'' to form ''The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.'' The pair partnered with Houston Harte and Bernard Hanks, later of Harte Hanks, as well as J. KAMC
KAMC (channel 28) is a television station in Lubbock, Texas, United States, affiliated with ABC. It is owned by Mission Broadcasting, which maintains a local marketing agreement (LMA) with Nexstar Media Group, owner of CBS affiliate KLBK-TV (channel 13), for the provision of certain services. The two stations share studios on University Avenue in south Lubbock, where KAMC's transmitter is also located. History KAMC first began broadcasting in the fall of 1968 as KSEL-TV. Originally an independent station, KSEL soon began broadcasting some ABC programming which was previously split between CBS affiliate KLBK and NBC affiliate KCBD (channel 11).
