KK Koper Primorska
Košarkarski klub Koper Primorska ( en, Koper Primorska Basketball Club), commonly referred to as KK Koper Primorska, was a men's professional basketball club based in Koper, Slovenia. The club was formed by the merger of KOŠ Koper and KK Lastovka in 2016, and was disbanded in 2020 due to financial problems. Primorska became the Slovenian champions in 2019, and also won the Slovenian Cup three times in a row between 2018 and 2020. History KK Primorska was founded in 2016 by the merger of KK Lastovka and ŠD Koš Koper. The team finished in seventh place in its debut season in the Slovenian national league. In its second season, Sixt Primorska competed in the second-level regional league, ABA League Second Division, where they lost in the final against KK Krka. The Premier A Slovenian Basketball League ( sl, 1. slovenska košarkarska liga), abbreviated as 1. SKL and known as the Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, is the top-level professional men's basketball league in Slovenia. The league, operated by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia, consists of eleven clubs. The most successful team is Cedevita Olimpija with 19 titles. History The league was founded in 1991, shortly after Slovenia's independence from SFR Yugoslavia. The 2017–18 ABA League Second Division was the inaugural season of the ABA League Second Division with 12 men's teams from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia participating in it. The 2017–18 Slovenian Basketball League, also known as Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, was the 27th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Olimpija are the defending champions. Format The number of teams was reduced from 12 to only 10 for the 2017–18 season. Regular season In the first phase, ten teams competed in a home-and-away round-robin series (18 games total). All teams advanced from the regular season to one of two postseason stages, depending on their league position. Second phase The top eight teams from the regular season advanced to the championship phase. These teams started the second phase from scratch, with no results carrying over from the regular season. The 2016–17 Slovenian Basketball League, also known as Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, was the 26th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Helios Suns were the defending champions. KK Union Olimpija won their 16th national title, defeating KK Rogaška 3–1 in the final. ABA League
The ABA League, renamed to the ABA League First Division in 2017, is the 1st-tier regional men's professional basketball league that originally featured clubs from the former Yugoslavia (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia). Due to sponsorship reasons, the league was also known as the Goodyear League from 2001 to 2006, the NLB League from 2006 to 2011, and as the AdmiralBet ABA League from 2021. 2020–21 ABA League First Division
The 2020–21 ABA League First Division was the 20th season of the ABA League with 14 teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia participating in it. The season has started on 2 October 2020. The season is the first to be played after the previous season was abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ABA League Assembly ruled that the 12 teams from the previous season stays in the league and the first two clubs from Second Division were awarded two wild cards. The Slovenian club Koper Primorska was disqualified from the competition in December 2020 and forfeited 0–20 for all games. MZT Skopje Aerodrom ( mk, МЗТ Скопје Аеродром) is a basketball club based in Skopje, North Macedonia. The club competes in the Macedonian League and ABA League.
