2017–18 Slovenian Basketball League
The 2017–18 Slovenian Basketball League, also known as Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, was the 27th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Olimpija are the defending champions. Format The number of teams was reduced from 12 to only 10 for the 2017–18 season. Regular season In the first phase, ten teams competed in a home-and-away round-robin series (18 games total). All teams advanced from the regular season to one of two postseason stages, depending on their league position. Second phase The top eight teams from the regular season advanced to the championship phase. These teams started the second phase from scratch, with no results carrying over from the regular season. Each team played a total of 14 games in this phase; as in the regular season, a home-and-away round-robin was used. The 2016–17 Slovenian Basketball League, also known as Liga Nova KBM due to sponsorship reasons, was the 26th season of the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Helios Suns were the defending champions. KK Union Olimpija won their 16th national title, defeating KK Rogaška 3–1 in the final. Format The 12 teams of the league play a double-legged round-robin competition where the six first qualified teams will join the playoffs for the title. The four last qualified teams will join the relegation group where the three worst qualified teams will be relegated. Ljubljana (also known by other historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It is the country's cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center. Novo Mesto (; sl, Novo mesto; also known by other alternative names) is a city on a bend of the Krka River in the City Municipality of Novo Mesto in southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia. Polzela
Polzela () is a settlement in Slovenia. It is the seat of the Municipality of Polzela. It lies on the left bank of the Savinja River extending into the Ložnica Hills ( sl, Ložniško gričevje) to the north. The area is part of the traditional region of Styria. It is now included in the Savinja Statistical Region. Buildings On a hill in the centre of the settlement is Komenda Castle, a 13th-century castle used in later centuries by the Knights Hospitaller and greatly rebuilt in the 19th century. A marble lion found at the castle and the Hospitallers' Maltese cross appear in the municipal coat of arms. The Helios Suns are a men's professional basketball club based in Domžale, Slovenia. The club competes in the Slovenian First League and the ABA League Second Division.
