KHSL-FM (103.5 MHz, "The Blaze") is a country music formatted radio station based in Chico, California. It is owned and operated by Deer Creek Broadcasting and Digital Interactive LLC, which also owns News-Talk 93.9 KPAY-FM (formerly KFMF-FM), KPAY Fox Sports 1290 AM /102.9 FM, Mix 95.1 Lite Rock KMXI-FM, KZAP-FM 96.7 Classic Rock and formerly owner of Regional Spanish station KHHZ-FM 97.7 (known as La Gran X/Radio Mexico), now owned by Bustos Media. The station's partner and general manager is longtime Chico media personality Dino Corbin, who served as general manager at KHSL-TV for over 20 years and has served the community in broadcasting for 50 years. The program director and morning personality is Mike Wessels. The distinction of the longest-tenured on-air talent at the station goes to Moriss Taylor, who has been a fixture at the station for six decades. (Taylor is now deceased.) KHSL-TV (channel 12) is a television station licensed to Chico, California, United States, serving the Chico– Redding market as an affiliate of CBS and The CW Plus. It is owned by Allen Media Broadcasting, which provides certain services to dual NBC/Telemundo affiliate KNVN (channel 24, also licensed to Chico) under a shared services agreement (SSA) with Maxair Media. Both stations share studios at the McClung Broadcast Center on the corner of Eaton and Silverbell Road on the northwest side of Chico, while KHSL's transmitter is located along Cohasset Road in rural Butte County northwest of Paradise, California. History KHSL-TV came on air in 1953 and was established by the McClung family's Golden Empire Broadcasting Company along with KHSL-AM 1290. Paradise, California
Paradise is a town in Butte County, California, United States in the Sierra Nevada foothills above the northeastern Sacramento Valley. As of the 2020 census, the town population was 4,764. On November 8, 2018, a major wildfire, the Camp Fire, destroyed most of Paradise and much of the adjacent communities of Magalia, Butte Creek Canyon, and Concow. After the Camp Fire, the population declined by more than 90%. In January 2019, the state of California reported 4,600 residents, and a door-to-door count in April 2019 found 2,034. Leon Eric Brooks III, better known by his stage name Kix Brooks (born May 12, 1955), is an American country music artist, actor, and film producer best known for being one half of the duo Brooks & Dunn and host of radio's ''American Country Countdown''.
