KHL Conference Finals
The Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) Conference Finals are the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Championship series of the KHL. The Conference Finals are best-of-seven series. The two series are played after the first and second rounds of the playoffs and before the Gagarin Cup Finals. The final two teams in the Eastern Conference and Western Conference face off. The series are the conference equivalents of the Gagarin Cup Finals. The conferences were established during the second season of competition. In the inaugural season there were no conferences, only four divisions. Gagarin Cup
The Gagarin Cup (russian: Кубок Гагарина, Kubok Gagarina) is the trophy presented to the winner of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) playoffs, and is named after Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space. The Cup was supposedly named after Gagarin because the last possible game of the inaugural KHL season would take place on April 12, the anniversary date of Gagarin's flight. After the end of the KHL's regular season, sixteen teams participate in the playoffs. The 1/8 and quarter-finals were a best-of-five series during the first season, and the semi-finals and finals were a best-of-seven series during the first season. Conferences were established for the second season. Conference quarter-finals are a best-of-five series while the conference semi-finals, conference finals and Gagarin Cup finals are a best-of-seven series. Martin Štrbák
Martin Štrbák (born January 15, 1975) is a Slovak former ice hockey defenceman, who last played for HC Košice. Biography Štrbák played in the 1989 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a youth ice hockey team from Czechoslovakia. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 9th round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, and also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ( 2003–04) season. Štrbák was part of the Slovakian team which won the 2002 IIHF World Championships. Alexei Alekseyevich Morozov (russian: Алексей Алексе́евич Морозов; born 16 February 1977) is the president of the Kontinental Hockey League and a Russian former professional ice hockey player. He played professional hockey with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the National Hockey League (NHL) and in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Ak Bars Kazan and CSKA Moscow. Hockey Club Lev Praha (stylized as HC LEV Praha) was a professional ice hockey team located in Prague, Czech Republic, which played in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in the 2012–13 and 2013–14 seasons. In their two seasons played, Lev made the Gagarin Cup playoffs both times. HC Dynamo Moscow () is a Russian professional ice hockey club based in Moscow. It is a member of the Tarasov Division in the Kontinental Hockey League. Hockey Club Atlant Moscow Oblast (russian: ХК Атлант Московская область, en, Atlas Hockey Club Moscow Region) was a Russian professional ice hockey team based in Mytishchi, Moscow Oblast. Hockey Club Lokomotiv (russian: ХК Локомотив, en, Locomotive HC), also known as Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, is a Russian professional ice hockey team, based in the city of Yaroslavl, playing in the top level Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The name of the team is derived from its owner, Russian Railways, the national railroad operator. On 7 September 2011, nearly the entire team perished in a Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plane crash, plane crash.
