KDLS (AM)
KDLS (1310 AM) is a commercial radio station serving the Perry, Iowa area. Until February 2010, the station broadcast Timeless Favorites. After the shutdown of Timeless Favorites at that same month, the station has broadcast primarily a Kool Gold format. Although both stations share the same call letters, KDLS AM does not have the same ownership as KDLS-FM. Until January 31, 2012, KDLS was licensed to Coon Valley Communications, Inc. Coon Valley Communications also owned KGRA 98.9 FM in Jefferson and KKRF 107.9 FM in Stuart. Coon Valley Communications was owned by Patrick Delaney of Perry. Perry is a city in Dallas County, Iowa, United States, along the North Raccoon River. The population was 7,836 at the time of the 2020 Census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area. KDLS-FM (105.5 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Perry, Iowa, and serving the Des Moines metropolitan area. It airs a Regional Mexican music radio format, known as "La Ley 105.5 FM." Timeless was a 24-hour satellite music service of Citadel Media (through Citadel Broadcasting). It has distributed a mix of soft oldies and adult standards to radio stations around the United States. AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands. Adel ( ) is a city in and the county seat of Dallas County, Iowa. It is located along the North Raccoon River. Its population was 6,153 at the time of the 2020 Census. History Adel is the oldest town within Dallas County. Originally called Penoach, Adel was incorporated in 1847, and changed to its current name in 1849. In 1855, there were about twenty-five houses in Adel and three stores. From that time onward, the city began to grow at a faster rate. Situated along the river, Adel had a good supply of water-power for a flour mill. It was to be situated on a section of property owned by Noeingerl Cantrel & Co. J. H. Strong of Des Moines, and H. H. Moffatt built the mill in 1856–57 at a cost of $20,000. The dam was constructed with about eight feet of head water.
