KBPL (107.9 FM, "107.9 KBPI") is a radio station licensed to Pueblo, Colorado, and serving the Colorado Springs/Pueblo radio market. Owned by iHeartMedia, it broadcasts an Active rock format. On December 1, 1988, the station changed its call sign to KRYT-FM. On January 1, 1993, the station was bought by the McCoy Broadcasting Company. It became KDZA-FM. The station is currently owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and licensed as CC Licenses. History This station was authorized to Philip C. Lasky and J. H. Albert on October 27, 1927, as KGHF. It originally broadcast on 1430 kHz, sharing the frequency with KFXJ. It went on the air in January 1928 from the Congress Hotel. In 1964, KGHF became KKAM. KKAM would eventually become country KIDN and later return to its KGHF callsign. History The 96.1 signal signed on in 1993 as Christian AC KBIQ, and was originally owned by The Word in Music Inc. which is now known today as Bethesda Christian Broadcasting. TWIM was a non-profit corporation which did on-air fundraisers for the station but sold commercial air time. In 1996, Salem Communications brought KBIQ and continued the Christian AC format. A call sign can be formally assigned by a government agency, informally adopted by individuals or organizations, or even cryptographically encoded to disguise a station's identity. The use of call signs as unique identifiers dates to the landline railroad telegraph system. Because there was only one telegraph line linking all railroad stations, there needed to be a way to address each one when sending a telegram. Pueblo Community College (PCC) is a public community college in Pueblo, Colorado. History ''Pueblo Community College'' (PCC) traces its history to the founding of Southern Colorado Junior College (SCJC) in 1933. In 1937 SCJC became part of the Pueblo County Junior College District, and was renamed Pueblo Junior College. In 1961 the college district was dissolved by the General Assembly and the Junior College became the four-year Southern Colorado State College (SCSC).
