KAJC (90.1 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Christian format, licensed to Salem, Oregon, United States, and serving the Monmouth–Independence area. The station was established by CSN International, and is currently owned by KAJC FM. History The station began broadcasting in 2005, and was owned by CSN International. CSN International filed an application to change the city of license to Millersburg, to increase power, and to move the transmitter location. This application was granted on February 1, 2008. The proposed transmitter site would have resulted in lower signal levels in the communities of Monmouth and Independence. Since the station is now owned locally, the construction permit for Millersburg would expire and the station remains at the originally licensed location. In 2008, CSN International sold KAJC, along with a number of other stations, to Calvary Radio Network, Inc. Calvary Radio Network is a network of Christian radio stations in the Midwestern United States, broadcasting Christian talk and teaching programs as well as contemporary Christian music. The network is based in Valparaiso, Indiana. History In 2008, Calvary Radio Network purchased 26 full powered stations, 27 translators, and one construction permit from CSN International. Monmouth, Oregon
Monmouth () is a city in Polk County, Oregon, Polk County in the U.S. state of Oregon. It was named for Monmouth, Illinois, the origin of its earliest settlers. The population is 11,110 at the 2020 Census and it is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Monmouth was settled in 1853 by a group of pioneers who allocated to build both a city and a "college under the auspices of the Christian Church", and proceeds from the sale of these lands were used to found Monmouth University, currently known as Western Oregon University. Christian Satellite Network (CSN) International is a Christian radio network based in Twin Falls, Idaho. KAWZ, 89.9 MHz, in Twin Falls is the uplink station, feeding 337 broadcast translators nationwide and 42 full-power radio stations across the United States, including Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands. CSN is a non-profit organization and operates non-profit stations. History KAWZ began broadcasting on April 3, 1988 (Easter Sunday), with Pastor Mike Kestler as its founder. The network was launched on April 26, 1995, broadcasting Christian radio over satellite from KAWZ in Twin Falls. The first satellite-fed translator to begin receiving the network from KAWZ was in Yucca Valley, California, and within six months the network had dozens of translators.
