Körfuknattleiksfélag Selfoss, commonly known as Selfoss-Basket (''Icelandic: Selfoss-Karfa''), is a basketball club in Selfoss (town), Selfoss, Iceland. Its men's team currently plays in the 1. deild karla (basketball), 1. deild karla. History The club was founded on August 24, 2005 as Íþróttafélag FSu (English: FSu Sports Club). In 2012 it changed its name to Körfuknattleiksfélag FSu (English: FSu Basket) and on April 5, 2018, the club changed its name again to Körfuknattleiksfélag Selfoss (English: Selfoss Basketball Club), or Selfoss-Karfa (English: Selfoss-Basket) for short. Selfoss, Iceland
Selfoss () is a town in southern Iceland on the banks of the Ölfusá river. It is the seat of the municipality of Árborg. The Icelandic Route 1 runs through the town on its way between Hveragerði and Hella. The town is a centre of commerce and small industries with a population of 9000 (2021), making it the largest residential area in South Iceland. Kjartan Atli Kjartansson (born 23 May 1984) is an Icelandic sports TV and radio show host, basketball coach and former player. He hosted Stöð 2 Sport's '' Domino's Körfuboltakvöld'' (English: Domino's Basketball Night) from 2015 to 2023 and was the host of the morning radio show Brennslan on FM957 from 2014 to 2020. Valur Snjólfur Ingimundarson (born 20 February 1962) is an Icelandic former basketball player and coach. He played for 20 seasons in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild and is its highest scoring player of all time. He won the Icelandic championship eight times during his career and the Icelandic Cup twice. Denmark Valur was a player-coach for Odense BK from 1995 to 1998 and helped the club achieve promotion up two levels in two seasons and to the Danish top-tier league in 1997. Valur Orri Valsson (born 15 June 1994) is an Icelandic basketball player for the Keflavík of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild karla. Playing career Playing the point guard position, Valur started is senior team career in 2009 at the age of 14 with Njarðvík before moving to FSu and later Keflavík. During the 2015–16 regular season, he posted career highs of 12.9 points and 5.5 assists per game, good for fourth best in the league. He played college basketball for Florida Tech from 2016 to 2020. Tómas Þórður Hilmarsson (born 11 January 1995) is an Icelandic basketball player who last played for Aquimisa Carbajosa in the Spanish LEB Plata and the Icelandic national team. Daníel Guðni Guðmundsson (born 17 November 1986) is an Icelandic basketball coach and a former player. During his playing career, he won the Icelandic Basketball Cup in 2014, and the Icelandic Super Cup three times, in 2004, 2006 and 2013. Christopher William C. Caird (born 26 May 1989) is an English basketball coach and former member of the Great Britain men's national basketball team. College Caird committed to Syracuse University his freshman season, NCAA issues resulted in him changing his team to Marshalltown Community College for that season. Brynjar Karl Sigurðsson (born 17 September 1973) is an Icelandic businessman, basketball coach and former player. He played several seasons in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla and was a member of the Icelandic national team.
