Königstein im Taunus () is a health spa and lies on the thickly wooded slopes of the Taunus in Hesse, Germany. The town is part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. Owing to its advantageous location for both scenery and transport on the edge of the Frankfurt Rhine Main Region, Königstein is a favourite residential town. Königstein, Saxony
Königstein ( hsb, Kralowc) is a town on the Elbe river in Saxony in Germany. Königstein lies in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge District and had a population of 2,089 in 2018. It includes land on both banks of the Elbe, but the centre and most of the town lies to the south of the river. The Königstein Fortress is situated above and to the south-west of the town. Geography Königstein is located in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The town lies in between Pirna and the Czech Republic, Czech border at the confluence of the Biela (river), Biela with the Elbe. Königstein Fortress (german: Festung Königstein), the "Saxony, Saxon Bastille", is a hilltop fortress near Dresden, in Saxon Switzerland, Germany, above the town of Königstein, Saxony, Königstein on the left bank of the River Elbe. It is one of the largest hilltop fortifications in Europe and sits atop the Königstein (hill), table hill of the same name. The rock plateau rises above the Elbe and has over 50 buildings, some over 400 years old, that bear witness to the military and civilian life in the fortress. The rampart run of the fortress is long with walls up to high and steep sandstone faces. In the centre of the site is a deep well, which is the deepest in Saxony and second deepest well in Europe. Königstein (Westerhausen)
The Königstein is a 189 m high hill in the northern Harz Foreland in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. It is also known as the ''Kamelfelsen'' ("Camel Rocks") due to its unusually shaped sandstone rock formation. Location and area The Königstein lies in the northern Harz Foreland, northwest of Westerhausen (near Quedlinburg) on the road towards Börnecke. Its neighbouring hill to the northwest is the 178 m high ''Jätchenberg''. The Bundesstraße 6n, federal road B 6n runs by to the north. The Königstein is a ridge running from northwest to southeast. Its northeastern flank is relatively steep, but its southwestern slopes fall away much more gently. The Königstein Railway (''Königsteiner Bahn'') is a 1902 opened, single-track and non-electrified secondary railway line that connects the town of Königstein im Taunus with the city of Frankfurt am Main on the southern edge of the Taunus in the German state of Hesse. The Regionalbahn line, which was also called the K-Bahn from 1989 to 1995, now runs from Koenigstein via Frankfurt-Höchst station as timetable route 646 to Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof.
