''Kådisbellan'' (''The Condom Slingshot'') is a 1989 Swedish autobiography written by Roland Schütt. The book is about Schütt's life as child during the 1920s. His mother Zipa sells condoms, which was forbidden then, and Roland steals the condoms and makes slingshots and balloons of them. The Slingshot (film)
''The Slingshot'' ( sv, Kådisbellan) is a Swedish drama film which was released to cinemas in Sweden on 24 September 1993, starring Jesper Salén, Stellan Skarsgård and Basia Frydman. Directed by Åke Sandgren, the film was based on Roland Schütt's 1989 autobiographical novel of the same name (translates to ''"The Condom Slingshot"''). Plot Roland (Salén) is the 12-year-old son of a Russian Jewish mother (Frydman) and a socialist father (Skarsgård), coming of age in 1920s Stockholm. Due to his family's background, he has become an outcast to those around him, a constant target of bullying by his peers, and often humiliated and physically punished by a sadistic schoolteacher (Ernst-Hugo Järegård) in front of classmates. In retaliation against his tormentors, Roland steals condoms from his mother's tobacco shop inventory and turns them into crude slingshot weapons. Roland Schütt
Fritiof Roland Schütt (born 18 April 1913 in Stockholm, dead 10 November 2005 (aged 92) in Tyresö) was a Swedish author. He was son to Fritiof and Zipa Schütt and younger brother to the author Bertil Schütt. He has hosted Tyresö närradio together with Åke Sandin. His novel ''The Slingshot'' was made into a 1993 film of the same name. Ã…ke Sandgren (born 13 May 1955) is a Sweden, Swedish-Denmark, Danish film director and screenwriter. He has written and directed a number of films in a variety of genres, mostly in Denmark where he now lives. Biography Sandgren studied Film Science and Philosophy at Stockholm University from 1976 to 1979 and then moved to Denmark where he studied film direction at the National Film School of Denmark from 1979 to 1982. After graduation, he worked as a writer and director of films in both Sweden and Denmark. He won the Golden Bear award for Best Short Film at the 1984 Berlin International Film Festival with his film ''Cykelsymfonien'' (The Bicycle Symphony). His 1989 film ''The Miracle in Valby, Miraklet i Valby'' (Miracle at Valby) won the Grand Prize at the 2nd Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival held in February 1991. Autobiography
An autobiography, sometimes informally called an autobio, is a self-written account of one's own life. It is a form of biography. Condom
A condom is a sheath-shaped barrier device used during sexual intercourse to reduce the probability of pregnancy or a sexually transmitted infection (STI). There are both male and female condoms. With proper use—and use at every act of intercourse—women whose partners use male condoms experience a 2% per-year pregnancy rate. With typical use the rate of pregnancy is 18% per-year. Slingshot
A slingshot is a small hand-powered projectile weapon. The classic form consists of a Y-shaped frame, with two natural rubber strips or tubes attached to the upper two ends. The other ends of the strips lead back to a pocket that holds the projectile. One hand holds the frame, while the other hand grasps the pocket and draws it back to the desired extent to provide power for the projectile—up to a full span of the arm with sufficiently long bands.
