Käfertal is a borough (''Stadtbezirk'') of Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region which is divided into the quarters ''Käfertal-Mitte'', ''Speckweggebiet'', ''Käfertal-Süd'', ''Sonnenschein'' and ''Franklin''. It has a population of 26,446 people as of December 31, 2019. Geography Käfertal is located in the northeast of Mannheim. The neighboring districts are Vogelstang, Feudenheim, Wohlgelegen, and Waldhof. In the northeast is the city of Viernheim Viernheim is a midsize industrial town on Mannheim's outskirts and is found in the Rhine Neckar agglomeration and economic area. A ''Stadtbezirk'' (also called ''Ortsbezirk'' in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate) is an administrative division in Germany, which is part of a larger city. It is translated as "borough". In Germany, ''Stadtbezirke'' usually only exist in a metropolis with more than 150,000 inhabitants. For example, Wattenscheid, which was a town in its own right until 1974, is now a ''Stadtbezirk'' within the city of Bochum in the Ruhr area of North Rhine-Westphalia. In Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, the term ''Ortsbezirk'' is also used for districts of smaller cities. A ''Stadtbezirk'' may consist of several smaller parts: ''Stadtteile'' or ''Ortsteile''. The Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (german: Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar, ), often referred to as Rhein-Neckar-Triangle, is a polycentric metropolitan region located in south western Germany, between the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region to the North and the Stuttgart Region to the South-East. Viernheim
Viernheim is a midsize industrial town on Mannheim's outskirts and is found in the Rhine Neckar agglomeration and economic area. It is the second biggest town in Bergstraße district in Hesse, Germany. Since 1994 it has also borne the title '' Brundtlandstadt'', as it has been taking part in an energy conservation pilot project. In 1968, the town hosted the eighth ''Hessentag'' state festival. Geography Location Viernheim lies in the Rhine rift, and although it also lies in Hesse, it is bounded on the west, south and east by Baden-Württemberg. Bergstraße (district)
Bergstraße (; "Mountain Road") is a ''Kreis'' (district) in the south of Hesse, Germany. It is at the northern end of the Bergstraße route. Neighboring districts are Groß-Gerau, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Odenwaldkreis, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, the urban district Mannheim, the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, and the urban district of Worms. ''Kreis Bergstraße'' belongs both to the Rhine Neckar Area and the Rhein-Main Region. History The district was created in 1938, when the two former districts Bensheim and Heppenheim were merged. Geography The district is located in the Odenwald mountains, with the 517m high Melibokus as the highest elevation.
