Kyōto Daishōten
The Kyōto Daishōten is a Japanese Grade 2 flat horse race in Japan for Thoroughbred colts and fillies aged three and over run over a distance of 2,400 metres at the Kyoto Racecourse, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. The race is run in October and serves as a trial race for the autumn edition of the Tenno Sho. It was first run in 1966. Among the winners of the race have been Mejiro McQueen, Marvelous Crown, T M Opera O, Tap Dance City, Rose Kingdom and Lovely Day. Kyoto Racecourse
is located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It is used for horse racing. It has a capacity of 120,000. It was built in 1999. History Kyoto Race Course opened on December 1, 1925. In preparation for the track's 100th anniversary, Kyoto Race Course will be closed from November 2020 until the Spring of 2023 for grandstand renovations. Races normally run at Kyoto will be moved to either Hanshin Racecourse or Chukyo Racecourse during this time. Physical attributes Kyoto Race Course has two turf courses, a dirt course, and a jump course. The turf's measures 1894m and the measures 1783m . A chute permits races to be run on either oval at distances between 1400m and 1800m. Races can be run on the "A Course" rail setting (on the hedge), the "B Course" setting (rail out 4 meters), the "C Course" setting (rail out 7 metres) or the "D Course" setting (rail out 10 meters). Rose Kingdom
Rose Kingdom ( ja, ローズキングダム, link=no, foaled 10 May 2007) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and sire (horse), sire. In a racing career which lasted from 2009 until 2013 he won six of his twenty-five races. As a two-year-old in 2009 he was undefeated in three races and was voted Japanese Champion two-year-old colt. In the following year he won the Kobe Shimbun Hai and finished second in both the Satsuki Sho and the Tokyo Yushun before being awarded the Japan Cup on the disqualification of Buena Vista (horse), Buena Vista. He won only once in sixteen subsequent starts and was retired from racing in 2013. Makahiki (horse)
Makahiki ( ja, マカヒキ, foaled 28 January 2013) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. In 2016 he won the Yayoi Sho, Tokyo Yushun and Prix Niel. After failing to win for more than five years he took the Kyoto Daishoten as an eight-year-old in 2021. Background Makahiki is a bay colt with a small white star and a white sock on his right front foot, bred at Northern Farm in Japan by his owner Makoto Kaneko. He is from the sixth crop of foals sired by Deep Impact who was the Japanese Horse of the Year in 2005 and 2006, winning races including the Tokyo Yushun, Tenno Sho, Arima Kinen and Japan Cup. Glory Vase ( ja, グローリーヴェイズ, link=no, foaled 2 March 2015), is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He showed promising form in his first two seasons of racing, winning two minor races and finishing fifth in the Kikuka Sho. As a four-year-old in 2019 he emerged as a world-class performer, winning the Nikkei Shinshun Hai and running second in the spring edition of the Tenno Sho before recording his biggest victory in the Hong Kong Vase. Satono Diamond ( ja, サトノダイヤモンド, link=no, foaled 30 January 2013) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse. He showed promise as a juvenile in 2015 when he won both of his races. In the following year he developed into a top-class performer winning the Kisaragi Sho finishing third Satsuki Sho and taking second place in the Tokyo Yushun. In the autumn he was unbeaten in three starts, winning the Kobe Shimbun Hai, Kikuka Sho and Arima Kinen and took the JRA Award for Best Three-Year-Old Colt. Kitasan Black
is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and prospective sire. In a three-year track career he won twelve of his twenty races including seven Grade 1 events, won four JRA Awards and set the record for prize money won in Japan. He was a stayer who has produced most of his best performances over distances of 2400 metres or further. Unraced as a juvenile in 2014 he proved himself one of the best colts of his generation in Japan in the following year with wins in the Spring Stakes, St Lite Kinen and Kikuka Sho as well as third-place finishes in the Satsuki Sho and the Arima Kinen. Sweep Tosho (Japanese: スイープトウショウ, foaled 9 May 2001) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. Bred and owned by Tosho Sangyo and trained throughout her racing career by Akio Tsurudome she won eight of her twenty-four races between October 2003 and November 2007 including Grade I victories in the Shuka Sho, Takarazuka Kinen and Queen Elizabeth II Cup. (born March 15, 1969 in Kyoto, Kyoto) is a Japanese jockey. A legend in Japan, Yutaka Take made his riding debut in 1987 and currently holds seven all-time records in his native country.
