Kyuquot Sound
Kyuquot Sound is a complex of coastal inlets, bays and islands on northwestern Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The sound is named after the Kyuquot people, who are of the Nuu-chah-nulth peoples by culture and language (incorrectly known as "Nootka"). Their local government, based at Kyuquot, is the Kyuquot/Cheklesahht First Nation which is a member of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council. Geography Kyuquot Sound has main arms that branch out into the interior of Vancouver Island. Numerous islands can be found within the sound, the largest of which are Union Island, Hohoae Island, Moketas Island, Whiteley Island, and Surprise Island. Rugged Point Marine Provincial Park lies to the southern end of the sound while Tahsish-Kwois Provincial Park protects one of the northern arms. Vancouver Island
Vancouver Island is an island in the northeastern Pacific Ocean and part of the Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of British Columbia. The island is in length, in width at its widest point, and in total area, while are of land. The island is the largest by area and the most populous along the west coasts of the Americas. Brooks Peninsula Provincial Park

History As a result of land-use planning for Vancouver Island, this former 28,780 hectare (71,117 acre) recreation area (established in 1986) was upgraded in 1995 to a Class 'A' Provincial Park. In addition to this upgrade, 22,851 hectares (56,466 acres) known as the Brooks-Nasparti area, has been added to the park. On July 13, 2009, the park was renamed Brooks Peninsula Provincial Park (a.k.a. Mquqʷin) and, in 2018, Mquqʷin/Brooks Peninsula Provincial Park under the guidance of the Che:k'tles7et'h' peoples. Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council
The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council is a First Nations Tribal Council in the Canadian province of British Columbia, located on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The organization is based in Port Alberni, British Columbia. History The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council began as the West Coast Allied Tribes in 1958, but then incorporated as a non-profit society called the West Coast District Society of Indian Chiefs in 1973. In 2009, the name was changed to the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) (NTC, 2008). The northern boundary of Nuu-chah-nulth territory begins on the west coast of Vancouver Island at Brooks Peninsula and the southern boundary is at Port Renfrew. The territory extends inland about halfway across the island to encompass Gold River and Port Alberni. There are fourteen tribes that comprise the Nuu-chah-nulth Nations.
