Kyle Sweeney
Kyle Sweeney (born April 5, 1981, in Springfield Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Springfield, Pennsylvania) is an American professional lacrosse player who plays for the New York Lizards in Major League Lacrosse. He is the vice president of sports nutrition at Medifast, and co-founder of the Gotham Lacrosse League. Sweeney played for the United States men's national lacrosse team, U.S. Men's National Team in the 2006 World Lacrosse Championship, 2006 and 2010 World Lacrosse Championship, 2010 World Lacrosse Championship,2010 Men's World Lacrosse Championship Roster and played for United States national indoor lacrosse team, Team USA in the 2007 ILF World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. 2011 MLL Season
The 2011 Major League Lacrosse season was the 11th season of the league. The season began on May 14, 2011, and concluded with the championship game on August 28, 2011. Milestones & events Team movement The Chicago Machine moved to Rochester, NY and reestablished the Rochester Rattlers franchise. Hamilton, ON became the new home of the Nationals, and the team reflected it with a name change to the Hamilton Nationals. On December 9, 2010, Commissioner David Gross, announced that in February 2011, there would be two expansion teams created for the 2012 MLL Season. Also, there would be two more expansion teams for 2013. The long-term goal is to have 16 teams by 2019. The 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship was the second World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, an international box lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse every four years. It took place between May 14 and 20 at the Halifax Metro Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Canada was the defending champion and again beat the Iroquois Nationals in the final, this time 15–14 in overtime. The United States national indoor lacrosse team represents the U.S. in box lacrosse at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. Team USA has won the bronze medal in all four WILC tournaments. The team is organized by US Lacrosse, the national governing body. US Indoor Lacrosse was named to form and manage the 2007 and 2011 Teams. Major League Lacrosse
Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was a men's field lacrosse league in the United States. The league's inaugural season was in 2001. Teams played anywhere from ten to 16 games in a summertime regular season. This was followed by a four-team playoff for the championship trophy, the Steinfeld Trophy, named after founder Jake Steinfeld. League attendance peaked at 6,417 in 2011 and the 2019 average was 4,587. The Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards (originally the Baltimore Bayhawks and Long Island Lizards) were MLL members throughout its existence and competed in the first three championship games, with the Lizards winning two. World Indoor Lacrosse Championship
The World Box Lacrosse Championship (WBLC), formerly known as the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship (WILC), is an international box lacrosse tournament sponsored by World Lacrosse that is held every four years. Since the first tournament in 2003, Canada has won all five gold medals and is undefeated in all games. Canada hosted the first two tournaments in 2003 and 2007, the Czech Republic hosted in 2011, the Onondaga Nation, south of Syracuse, New York, hosted in 2015. 2010 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2010 World Lacrosse Championship was held between 15–24 July. This international men's field lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse took place in Manchester, United Kingdom. This was the third time that the tournament was played in Greater Manchester, after the 1978 and 1994 championships. The United States captured their ninth gold medal, defeating Canada 12–10 in the championship game. Paul Rabil of Team USA was named tournament MVP. Australia earned its fourth-straight bronze medal by defeating Japan 16 –9. A record 29 nations competed at the event, eight more than the 2006 WLC in London, Ontario.
