Kyle Hausmann-Stokes is an American film director and screenwriter. He directed his feature directorial debut with ''My Dead Friend Zoe'' (2024). The feature is based on his short film ''Merit x Zoe''. Hausmann-Stokes also directed the documentary ''Now, After...'' (2011). For his work in ''My Dead Friend Zoe'', Hausmann-Stokes won the South by Southwest Narrative Spotlight Audience Award. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. The Bronze Star Medal (BSM) is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. When the medal is awarded by the Army, Air Force, or Space Force for acts of valor in combat, the "V" device is authorized for wear on the medal.
