Perth
Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Albany ( ; nys, Kinjarling) is a port city in the Great Southern region in the Australian state of Western Australia, southeast of Perth, the state capital. The city centre is at the northern edge of Princess Royal Harbour, which is a part of King George Sound. The central business district is bounded by Mount Clarence to the east and Mount Melville to the west. The city is in the local government area of the City of Albany. Roe is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia. It takes in rural areas in the south of the state. Roe was re-created for the 2017 state election, having previously been in existence from 1950 to 1983 and from 1989 to 2008. It is one of Western Australia's three rural seats, and one of the largest electoral constituencies in the world. History The Kent Road District was established on 22 December 1922. It was renamed the Nyabing-Pingrup Road District on 10 June 1955. Wheatbelt (Western Australia)
The Wheatbelt is one of nine regions of Western Australia defined as administrative areas for the state's regional development, and a vernacular term for the area converted to agriculture during colonisation. It partially surrounds the Perth metropolitan area, extending north from Perth to the Mid West region, and east to the Goldfields–Esperance region. It is bordered to the south by the South West and Great Southern regions, and to the west by the Indian Ocean, the Perth metropolitan area, and the Peel region. Kwobrup-Badgebup Important Bird Area
The Kwobrup-Badgebup Important Bird Area comprises two separate reserves about 5 km apart, with a combined area of 602 ha, lying close to the two small towns of Kwobrup and Badgebup in the southern wheatbelt region of Western Australia. Birds The site has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA) because it supports up to 20 breeding pairs of the endangered Carnaby's cockatoo. The site boundaries are largely defined by areas of suitable nesting habitat with the vegetation consisting of remnant eucalypt woodland with some heathy shrubland.BirdLife International. (2011). Katanning To Pingrup Railway Line
The Katanning to Pingrup railway line was a state government-owned and WAGR-operated railway line connecting Katanning to Pingrup via Nyabing in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. The railway line was long. At its western end, at Katanning, it connected to the Great Southern Railway. At Katanning, it also connected to the Donnybrook–Katanning railway, which closed in 1982. The line from Katanning to Nyabing still exists but is not in operation while the line further east, from Nyabing to Pingrup no longer exists, having closed in 1957. History The Great Southern Railway, passing through Katanning, was established in 1889, having been constructed in a three-year period from 1886.
