Kwaku Amoa-Awuah
Kwaku Amoa-Awuah (14 July 1926 – 23 January 2015), also known by the name Kwaku Manu, was a Ghanaian politician in the first republic. He was the member of parliament for the Akim Abuakwa East constituency from 1954 to 1965. In 1965, he became the member of parliament representing the Suhum constituency and the Minister for Labour. Prior to his ministerial appointment, he served as deputy minister in various ministries. During the fourth republic he was made chairman of the council elders of the Convention People's Party, a post he held until December 2014. Early life and education Amoa-Awuah was born on 14 July 1926 at Larteh-Akwapim in the Eastern Region of Ghana (then Gold Coast). His parents were then living in Suhum, and raised him there. His primary education began at the Methodist Primary School in Apedwa and continued at the Suhum Primary School. Kwame Nkrumah
Kwame Nkrumah (born 21 September 190927 April 1972) was a Ghanaian politician, political theorist, and revolutionary. He was the first Prime Minister and President of Ghana, having led the Gold Coast to independence from Britain in 1957. An influential advocate of Pan-Africanism, Nkrumah was a founding member of the Organization of African Unity and winner of the Lenin Peace Prize from the Soviet Union in 1962. After twelve years abroad pursuing higher education, developing his political philosophy, and organizing with other diasporic pan-Africanists, Nkrumah returned to the Gold Coast to begin his political career as an advocate of national independence. He formed the Convention People's Party, which achieved rapid success through its unprecedented appeal to the common voter. Suhum (Ghana Parliament Constituency)
The Suhum constituency is in the Eastern region of Ghana with the town Suhum as its capital. The current member of Parliament for the constituency is Kwadjo Asante. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and won a majority of 34,049 votes representing 64.0% more than candidate closest in the race, to win the constituency election to become the MP. The constituency has elected four members of parliament since 1996, with Frederick Opare-Ansah being the longest serving MP ever in the constituency, while, Solomon Kodjoe Akwetey, Ransford Agyapong and Kwadjo Asante have had a single term each.
