Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah
Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah (born 18 June 1974 in Takoradi) is a Ghanaian politician and the current Member of Parliament for the Takoradi constituency in the Western Region of Ghana. He had his secondary school at Mfantsipim School. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the deputy minister for Aviation in Ghana. Early life and education Darko-Mensah was born on 18 June 1974 in Takoradi. He hails from Anwhiankwanta, a town in (Ghana). He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 2000 from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He later pursued a postgraduate degree in Democracy, Governance, Law and Development from the University of Cape Coast in 2006. He has also received certificates from Sangonet, South Africa, and EMPRETEC, Ghana. Career Darko-Mensah is a biochemist and a hotelier by profession. Western Region (Ghana)
The Western Region is located in south Ghana, spreads from the Ivory Coast ( Comoé District) in the west to the Central region in the east, includes the capital and large twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi on the coast, coastal Axim, and a hilly inland area including Elubo. It includes Ghana's southernmost location, Cape Three Points, where crude oil was discovered in commercial quantities in June 2007. The region covers an area of 13,842 sq. km, and had a population of 2,060,585 at the 2021 Census. Mfantsipim School Alumni
Mfantsipim is an all-boys boarding secondary school in Cape Coast, Ghana, established by the Methodist Church in 1876 to foster intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth on the then Gold Coast. Its founding name was Wesleyan High School and the first headmaster was James Picot, a French scholar, who was only 18 years old on his appointment. After changing its name to Wesleyan Collegiate School and Richmond College, the school, in 1905, merged with another Cape-Coast-based public high school established by John Mensah Sarbah (an old student of Wesley High School), who had established his own school called "Mfantsipim" as a rival of the Methodist-run school. John Mensah Sarbah died five years after the merger, at the age of 46, leaving the school wholly in the hands of the Methodist Church.
