''Kvitt eller dubbelt'' — ''Tiotusenkronorsfrågan'' (literally: ''Double or Nothing - The 10,000 Kronor Question'') was a Swedish game show based on the American version called ''The $64,000 Question''. It was the first game show to be broadcast on Swedish television and became one of the most watched television shows of the 1950s and 1960s. The show was hosted by Nils Erik Bæhrendtz and produced by Allan Schulman. The show was aired on SVT between 1957 until 1981. The show is one of the titles in the book ''Tusen svenska klassiker'' (2009).Gradvall ''et al'' 2009, nr. 25 In each episode a number of contestants answered questions about a specific subject that they had chosen beforehand. A game show is a genre of broadcast viewing entertainment (radio, television, internet, stage or other) where contestants compete for a reward. Allan Schulman
Carl Allan Rudolf Schulman (15 September 1919 – 12 July 2003) was a Swedish-Finnish journalist and television producer. Carl Allan Rudolf Schulman was born on 15 September 1919 in Helsinki, Finland to Carl Allan Morgan Schulman and Tyyni Ilta Helena Schulman (née Krank). He worked as journalist and managing editor at different Swedish newspapers and local radio stations in Finland between 1941 and 1951, and as producer at YLE between 1950 and 1953. In the year 1953 he moved to Stockholm to work at Radiotjänst, where he first served as producer and from 1958 as managing producer. As producer he produced Frukostklubben with Sigge Fürst as host. Between 1962 and 1965 he worked as TV producer. During the following years he worked as director of communications at the Swedish Red Cross. ''The $64,000 Question'' was an American game show broadcast in primetime on CBS-TV from 1955 to 1958, which became embroiled in the 1950s quiz show scandals. Contestants answered general knowledge questions, earning money which doubled as the questions became more difficult. The final question had a top prize of $64,000 (), hence the "$64,000 Question" in the show's title. ''The $64,000 Challenge'' (1956–1958) was its spin-off show, where contestants played against winners of at least $8,000 on ''The $64,000 Question''. Nils Erik Bæhrendtz
Nils Erik Bæhrendtz (20 November 1916 – 14 February 2002) was a Swedish literary historian, and radio and television personality. Bæhrendtz played an important role in creating Sweden's first television news show ''Aktuellt'', and in bringing new television show formats to Sweden. He was head of Swedish Radio and Swedish Television during the 1960s. After his sudden resignation as powerful manager, he was the executive president of the ''Skansen'' open-air museum foundation in Stockholm during the 1970s. Early life Nils Erik Bæhrendtz was born in 1916 in Stockholm. He was the son of chancery secretary Erik and his wife Ida, born Jacobsson. Bæhrendtz studied Latin in high school, and literary history at Stockholm University. Awarded a Ph.D. in 1952 for a thesis on the Norwegian realistic writer Alexander Kielland, Bæhrendtz became an associate professor of literature in Stockholm later that year. Olle Björklund
Sven Olof Björklund (28 June 1916 – 27 March 1981), better known as Olle Björklund, was a Swedish actor and television host. Björklund was the first Swedish television news presenter, hosting the national news show ''Aktuellt'' from 1958. In that capacity, he quickly earned his popular nickname ''Mr. Aktuellt''. However, in 1961, Björklund's career came to an end as he was fired from his position at Swedish Television in the midst of a controversy involving a tobacco advertisement. The krona (; plural: ''kronor''; sign: kr; code: SEK) is the official currency of the Kingdom of Sweden. Both the ISO code "SEK" and currency sign "kr" are in common use; the former precedes or follows the value, the latter usually follows it but, especially in the past, it sometimes preceded the value. Umbridae
Umbridae is a family of fish in the order Esociformes, which contains pike, pickerel, and mudminnows. The single living genus, ''Umbra'', occupies weed-choked freshwater habitats in eastern North America and eastern Europe. Mudskipper
Mudskippers are any of the 23 extant species of amphibious fish from the subfamily Oxudercinae of the goby family Oxudercidae. They are known for their unusual body shapes, preferences for semiaquatic habitats, limited terrestrial locomotion and jumping, and the ability to survive prolonged periods of time both in and out of water. Mudskippers can grow up to long, and most are a brownish green colour that range anywhere from dark to light. During mating seasons, the males will also develop brightly coloured spots in order to attract females, which can be red, green or blue. Unlike other fish, the mudskipper's eyes protrude from the top of its flat head. Their most noticeable feature however is their side pectoral fins that are located more forward and under their elongated body.
