Kuwait Open (table Tennis)
The Kuwait Open was a table tennis tournament held annually in Kuwait by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). It featured regularly on the ITTF World Tour calendar from 2006 to 2016. History The tournament was first held in 2006, and has featured on the ITTF World Tour's schedule every year since then, with the exception of 2011 when the country was temporarily suspended due to a recommendation from the International Olympic Committee. China's Ma Long holds the record for most men's singles tournament wins, with three, while Liu Shiwen and Li Xiaoxia of China jointly hold the record for most women's singles tournament wins, with two each. In August 2016, Kuwait was not included on the 2017 World Tour schedule announced by the ITTF. Kuwait City ( ar, مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Ryu Seung-min
Ryu Seung-min (; born August 5, 1982 in Seoul, South Korea) is a Korean table tennis player who won the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the men's singles competition. His opponent was Wang Hao, a top-seeded player from the Chinese national team. Along the way, he defeated 1992 Olympic champion Jan-Ove Waldner with 4–1. At the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics he was part of the South Korean team that won the bronze and silver medals respectively. Ryu is ranked twenty-fifth in the world as of July 2013. In 2016, Ryu became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), he was a member and Chair of the Athletes' Commission of the South Korean National Olympic Committee from 2016 to 2019. She joined the provincial team when she was 9 and joined the national team when she was only 13 in 2007. Li Hu (table Tennis)
Li Hu (; (born August 27, 1974– August 6, 2014) is the pseudonym of a prominent Chinese HIV/AIDS activist. He died from complications from AIDS at the age of 40. Li Hu was diagnosed with HIV on June 10, 2006, and later that year founded the HIV/AIDS advocacy group Tianjin Haihe Star AIDS Working Group () that he formed as a support organization for those living with HIV/AIDS. Li was famously known for helping a man living with HIV, Xiao Feng (), obtain surgery to treat his lung cancer after being previously denied because of his HIV status. Li helped Xiao modify his medical records so he could get treatment then publicized his efforts on Weibo to draw attention to the unfair treatment of Chinese people living with HIV. Gao Ning (; born 11 October 1982) is a retired Chinese-born Singaporean table tennis player. He is considered Singapore's best male player with a world ranking of 34 as of August 2016. He was first in men's singles at the 2007 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships. Jun Mizutani
is a retired Japanese table tennis player. He became the youngest Japanese national champion at the age of 17. His consecutive singles titles at the national championships from 2007 to 2011 made him the first man to win the event five times in a row. Zhang Jike
Zhang Jike (; born 16 February 1988) is a retired Chinese table tennis player. Zhang became the fourth male player in the history of table tennis to achieve a career Grand Slam when he won gold in men's singles at the Olympic games in London 2012. The first three are Jan-Ove Waldner (in 1992), Liu Guoliang (in 1999), and Kong Linghui (in 2000). Zhang won the Grand Slam in only 445 days. He won, consecutively, first WTTC 2011, then World Cup 2011, and then London Olympics 2012, which made him the fastest player ever to win a Grand Slam. Xu Xin (; born 8 January 1990) is a Chinese professional table tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 108 as of December 2022 for men's singles by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). He first reached his career-high singles ranking of world No. 1 in January 2013. He has won 17 World Tour Singles titles and has won the World Championships in men's doubles thrice, mixed doubles twice, and five times in the team event.
