The Kuwait National Cultural District (also known as the KNCD) is multi billion dollar development project that focuses on the arts and culture in Kuwait. With a capital cost of more than US$1 billion, the project is one of the largest cultural investments in the world today. The Kuwait National Cultural District is a member of the Global Cultural Districts Network. Silk City (Arabic: مدينة الحرير ''romanized:'' Madinat al-Hareer) is a large infrastructure project in northern Kuwait which is currently under development (Phase I). The project will be built in individual phases. South al-Mutlaa ( ar, جنوب المطلاع, Janub al-Mitlae) is new city under construction in Jahra Governorate, northern Kuwait. It is the largest housing project in the Kuwaiti history, ultimately intended to provide homes for 400,000 people in 12 suburbs, together with schools, mosques, mini-markets and health-centres. The city was approximately 39% complete by May 2019, and is expected to be completed by 2023. Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City
Sabah Al Ahmad Sea City is a city in Ahmadi, Kuwait built with canals forming of artificial shoreline. The city houses up to 250,000 residents. The city was inaugurated in mid 2016. The artificial islands that make up the area are unusual because they were built excavating large channels in desert land rather than using reclaimed land. The city is considered a pioneering project in the region due to its environmentally sustainable construction techniques. The first phase of the project was opened to the sea in 2004.
