A large quarry in the south is accessed by Dunlop Lane and owned by Holcim. History The name ''Kurwongbah'' is alleged to be the Kabi name for Sideling Creek, meaning "black duck". Kabi Kabi, also spelt Gabi-Gabi/Gubbi Gubbi, is a language of Queensland in Australia, formerly spoken by the Kabi Kabi people of South-east Queensland. The main dialect, Kabi Kabi, is extinct, but there are still 24 people with knowledge of the Butchulla dialect (also spelt Batjala, Batyala, Badjala, and variants), a language spoken by the Butchulla people of Fraser Island. Lakeside Park, formerly known as Lakeside International Raceway is a motor racing circuit located in Kurwongbah, Moreton Bay Region, Queensland, Australia. It is north of Brisbane, and lies adjacent to Lake Kurwongbah. The circuit was known as the spiritual home of Queensland motorsport and was built by volunteers and borrowed machinery in the 1960s. The main purposes of the dam are for potable water supply of the Moreton Bay Region and for recreation. The impounded reservoir is called Lake Kurwongbah.
