Kurds In Norway
Kurds in Norway are Kurds living in Norway. The number of Kurds is estimated between 7,100 and 25,000 and they come mainly from countries in the Middle East. Most Norwegian Kurds live in the capital Oslo. In 1993, population of Kurds in Norway was estimated as 2,000 by Kurdish Institute of Paris (KIP). In 2021, citing a report of the KIP, Rudaw estimates that between 25,000 and 30,000 Kurds reside in Norway. Political representation In the 2021 Norwegian parliamentary election, two Kurdish-Norwegians were elected being Seher Aydar of the Red Party and the other Mani Hussaini from the Labour Party. Mani Hussaini
Mani Hussaini ( ar, مانی حسینی; born 25 October 1987) is a Kurdish-Norwegian politician who was the leader of the Workers' Youth League (AUF) from 2014 to 2018. He is currently a member of parliament for Akershus since 2021. Born in a Kurdish family in Syria, Hussaini came to Norway at the age of twelve when his parents applied for asylum. His father, an agriculture engineer, was active in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria. Seher Aydar
Seher Aydar (born, 10 September 1989, Turkey) is a Norwegian politician of Kurdish descent. She is a member of the Red Party and was elected to the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) in the Parliamentary Elections of 2021. Early life and education Aydar was born into a family from Konya, where she passed her childhood until she migrated to Norway at the age of eleven. In Norway she grew up in Frederikstad. She has been working at a kindergarten and was politically active from an early age particularly in organizations focusing on women's and Kurdish rights. 2021 Norwegian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Norway on 13 September 2021. All 169 seats in the Norwegian legislature, the Storting, were up for election. The election was won by a coalition consisting of the social-democratic Labour Party and the agrarian Centre Party that entered into negotiations to form a government. The election also resulted in a majority for the parties that seek to dissolve the unpopular and controversial Viken county. Rudaw Media Network
Rudaw Media Network (, or ), is a media group in Kurdistan Region, Iraq. It publishes in Sorani, Kurmanji, English, Arabic and Turkish. Rudaw Media Network also owns a weekly newspaper in the Sorani dialect with a circulation of 3,000, a Kurmanji version published in Europe, a website in Kurdish, English, Arabic and Turkish and a satellite TV station. Kurdish Institute Of Paris
The Kurdish Institute of Paris (french: Institut kurde de Paris), founded in February 1983 by (amongst others) film producer Yılmaz Güney and poet Cigerxwîn, is an organization focused on the Kurdish language, culture, and history. It is one of the principal academic centers of the Kurdish language in Europe. Its main publications include the linguistic journal ''Kurmancî'', a monthly press review about Kurdish issues titled ''Bulletin de liaison et d'information'' (Bulletin of Contact and Information), and ''Études Kurdes'', a research journal in French.
